Pastor Thierbach also had a visit which was very challenging. God helped him to handle the visit so that the outcome was as God would have it. Please read his report of this challenging visit.
"Going from house with supplies in an area hard hit by the flood, my initial contact with this gentleman was less than hospitable. Disgust, frustration, and bitterness were etched on his face. His and words for me were equally sharp and profane as he told me, “I don’t want to talk to you. I’m tired of talking about what happened and leave me alone!!” I did so and left the bucket of cleaning supplies where I stood and went back to my truck.
In just a few minutes, he came back to the front of the home and walked to my truck. His first words were, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I apologize.” I told him I understood and began to tell him of my purpose to glorify the Lord and to do good by our neighbors. I said, “If you’ll give me just a few minutes of your time, I have some other things for him and a check for a thousand dollars.” His eyes immediately filled with tears and then he strongly bear-hugged me while expressing his thanks. It was just the beginning of what became a wonderful visit!"
Below are pictures of the man 's home. Not only was his home destroyed, but also his truck was washed away. Frustration comes from terrible circumstances, but the visit of a pastor with the message of God can change the frustration to comfort.
A couple of days later, Pastor Thierbach returned with a substantial check from ORH to help put a payment on a new truck. He said the man broke down in tears. He was not alone in his struggle to come back from losing everything.
ORH is thankful for your help to demonstrate the love of God to many who have not heard a message from God in years.
