The following is a report from Pastor Sum. He is broken over the condition of the victims of the earthquake. please read his report.
"Dear Brother Jan, Pray that this email finds you well. We are so grateful to you and to Kenton for supporting us to be able to help the earthquake victims who are extremely in need. If you were not there to help us to reach these pitiful people it will be unthinkable for them to face the reality of life. Your help really made great things in the lives of many who are desperate.
This time when I heard from you that you would send some funds to us for these victims who are devastated by the great earthquake, we planned and reach them on the 28th of June. We helped them rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, dry-food, blankets, water, mosquito nets, mosquito Repellent, and drinking water.
Before we distributed the relief stuff, I preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for half an hour. May be because of the poverty and extreme need, I don’t know, they are very receptive to the gospel. We distributed gospel tracts also. After we shared the relief stuff, we had fellowship with the leaders of the camp. Our heart is in pain to see their situation and our heart remain still there with them.
They live just on the ground, dusty and when it rains it become muddy. There are lots of mosquitos. They cook inside their tents. They depend on rain for water but water tank is so small for those thousands of people. In the water tank there is no water. They have public toilet which is a thousand feet far away from their camp. The paths are so muddy. The leader of the camp said, they will be staying at least three to four months at the camp. It is not inside the city so that they cannot go to shops easily.
Please pray with us for these pitiful people. Pray also that the gospel that has been sown to them may grow well in their hearts.
I attached the expenditures and some snapshots. I sent 13,000,000 K to buy all the stuff there in Naypyi Taw. As some stuff are not there we bought some in Yangon.
I cannot find any word to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your kind and great support for our extremely needy people. Please know that your support has made many needy people smile and feed their hungry stomach and quenched their thirsty.
May the Lord Whom you love and serve Him bless you more abundantly for His own glory. Yours in His ministry, David"
Pray for this brother who has received a huge, difficult ministry. He must have God's help to meet the demands. Plus, Myanmar is a difficult nation to propagate the Gospel. In a such a nation, often good works are a great means to propagate the Gospel.
ORH is pleased to help Pastor Sum do good works, and desires to do more for him.
