Four years ago today, our community came together to celebrate Kevin Murnane's life.
From 1999 to 2015, Kevin Murnane served as manager and director of Tahoe XC. He expanded our local youth programs, supported the North Tahoe School Nordic ski teams, and added clinics, races and community events to Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Area.
Kevin's vision was to make Nordic skiing accessible and enjoyable for everyone who wanted to try it. He upheld our mission and was instrumental in rallying skiers and friends around our community-based, non-profit organization.
His enthusiasm was infectious. His vision and love for Nordic skiing was genuine. And he was truly a good citizen and friend.
Thank you to all who have donated over the years. And special thanks to Tahoe City Chevron and the Milton-Shoong Foundation for their generous donations that started this foundation and for promising to help keep it going.
In 2015, Kevin lost his battle with clinical depression. The Tahoe Truckee Suicide Prevention Coalition is working to de-stigmatize the subjects of mental health and suicide in our community. We encourage you to check them out because we all can use better tools to help ourselves and those in need.
Kevin Murnane Student Scholarship 2019
