Chip Rogers, President & CEO, American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA)
Three key conversations in today’s hospitality industry: Bleisure/Blended Travel, human capital development, and sustainability.
Bleisure/Blended Travel: Nearly 90% of business travellers want to add some leisure time to their next business trip, so hotels need to create a seamless digital environment to capture this opportunity.
Human Capital Development: Employees no longer belong to one company - this creates an opportunity for hotels to cross train the workforce and relieve stress on human resources.
Sustainability: The hospitality industry should create standards that all brands can meet and promote them as minimum standards to progress sustainability more efficiently.

Destination Marketing Strategies
Rather than excessive and vague adjectives and slogans like “authentic” or “something for everyone”, destinations need to identify their own unique personality and define their audience beyond the conventional geographic and demographic features for maximum marketing results, Al Merschen (Myriad) remarked in his presentation.

The beloved ancient Korean musical storytelling form of pansori fuses with K-pop and Greek tragedy in an incredible production from the National Theater of Korea and visionary Singaporean director Ong Keng Sen. K-pop producer and Parasite composer Jung Jae-il created the original music in collaboration with renowned pansori master Ahn Sook-sun, a Living National Treasure in South Korea. Set after the sacking of Troy, Trojan Women sweeps audiences up in the heartbreak and determination of the city’s female survivors. Through a whirlwind of music, dance, and theater—brought to life by over 25 singers, actors, and musicians—emerges a stunning portrait of resilience in the face of war and occupation.
After sold-out runs at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul and Singapore International Arts Festival followed by acclaimed runs in London, Amsterdam and Vienna, Trojan Women finally comes to BAM for its US debut.

Doha, Qatar
Qatar is home to everything from neolithic rock carvings, modernist skyscrapers, and gentle Dugongs in its glittering waters. This is where ancient dwellings are only a stone’s throw from world class museums, glistening malls, desert adventures, and international sports venues. For centuries, Qatar was largely populated by Bedouin tribes and a few fishing villages.
Before the discovery of oil and gas changed the fortunes of the gulf state, the economy was built around fishing, pearl diving and trading. A British Protectorate from 1916, the modern state of Qatar was born on September 3, 1971, when it proclaimed its independence. Since then, the country has undergone rapid growth.
On the coast is the capital, Doha, known for its futuristic skyscrapers and other ultramodern architecture inspired by ancient Islamic design, such as the limestone Museum of Islamic Art. The museum sits on the city’s Corniche waterfront promenade.
The country’s seafaring past today manifests in a continued reverence for the crystal waters that surround the peninsula. Fishing remains a passion, and enthusiasts can enjoy a plethora of water sports. From kayaking through the Al Thakira mangroves to the thrill of a desert safari while taking in the majesty of the Inland Sea, to relaxing by the beach, Qatar allows visitors to reconnect with nature.
Oil and gas have made the 50-year-old country fantastically wealthy and influential. Qatar has one of the world's largest reserves of petroleum and natural gas and employs large numbers of foreign workers in its production process. Because of its oil wealth, the country's residents enjoy a high standard of living and a well-established system of social services.
Machbūs, a meal consisting of rice, meat, and vegetables, is the national dish in Qatar, typically made with either lamb or chicken and slow-cooked to give it a depth of flavour. Seafood and dates are staple food items in the country.
