The Keys to Beginning Reading training, developed by Joan Sedita, is a comprehensive program designed to help beginning readers develop strong reading skills. This program is based on research-proven methods and provides educators with the tools they need to teach reading effectively. With a focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, this training equips learners with the foundational skills necessary for success in reading.
Over the course of two-days, we will cover a range of topics, and by the end of our time together, you will have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of reading and will be equipped with the skills and strategies you need to continue developing your teaching practice. Whether you are just beginning your journey or are looking to improve your reading skills, this training will provide you with the tools you need to become a more confident and successful teacher of reading.
Prior to attending our face-to-face two-day training on August 7th and 8th, all participants must complete the Keys to Beginning Reading online course, which comprises of 11 modules. The completion time for each module varies but it typically takes a total of 25-35 hours. In addition to the online course, participants will receive a manual to accompany the coursework.
