Greetings!
In this final week before the Christmas break, I thank you for continuing to lead, continuing to trust, continuing to say “Yes.” I do not take this “yes” for granted these days. I am grateful for all you do, all your teachers and staff, and to the many substitutes who answer your early morning or late night calls. We didn’t anticipate the increased challenge of this school year. And yet, you continue to get up every morning and choose to be present, to listen, to learn and lead.
This week, as you ready for Catholic Schools week, school leaders should receive a box of goodies from Kristin Moore that will offer a bevy of ideas to celebrate the various constituents in your schools. Thank you to Kristin for her endless creativity and joy in helping us recruit and retain our students, staff and families. In the same box, I have placed a little goodie that truly was meant to go out prior to Advent…but then here we are in the third week of Advent. The booklet of prayer by Fr. Ron Rolheiser is a good one to hang on to and peruse throughout the new year. And, the bookmark cites the poem by Mary Oliver, “Instructions for Living Life”-
Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.
We have lived through so much, and we continue to be challenged. Let’s remain open to the Holy Spirit’s movement, let’s look for the footprints of love in our lives, and then, yes, let’s tell about it for many years to come.
You remain in our prayers of gratitude,
Kristin and the OCS team
