Fourth-graders take on plastics
Sometimes classroom lessons can change lives outside the school. In the fourth grade, students are already cutting back on their use of plastics.

It’s a side effect of a unit that’s focusing on plastics and their effect on the environment. The students learned how slowly plastics, especially disposable bags, degrade and how they ultimately find a way into our food supply.

Young ones celebrate 100th day of school
At the Little School and in Kindergarten, this week was all about 100 days of school. Focusing on that number gives students a chance to explore counting, grouping and improve their number sense.

Fortunately, these lessons usually involve some kind of treats and lots of fun.

No school -- Feb. 7

Valentine's Day is coming!
A Message from the Junior Class:

Keystone Families!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Please support the Junior Class's fundraising effort to throw the Upper School's Prom this year by sending special grams (like balloons, pizza, stuffed animals and more!) to your teachers and classmates!

Valentine's Day is the most celebrated day of the year at Keystone and has been a super fun tradition for many years now. Packets were distributed to all students and faculty on Tuesday, January 21st, but in case you have misplaced yours or are looking to purchase more of a certain gram, here's a link to the packet .

Please turn in completed forms by Monday, February 10th (to your teacher or Nurse Penny) as this helps the Junior Class efficiently organize your order. Quantities are limited, and, by turning in your forms earlier, you can better secure your grams. Thank you for your support and Happy Valentine's Day!

Love,
The Keystone Class of 2021

Billy's Blog: From the Head of School
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
--Helen Keller

So much of what we do in schools comes down to asking students, as well as adults, to take risks, try new things, and possibly fall short. As experience shows us, going out on a limb can be scary; it is much easier, and therefore safer, to continue doing what we have always done. Routine is comforting, particularly when we receive recognition for doing well. This can be all the more true with children who are successful in school and pride themselves on their performance. The possibility of failure presents an obstacle to taking on something new or different.

So, how do we create the conditions for motivated and engaged children like Keystone Cobras to put themselves out there?
