A message about Picture Day
|
|
Dear Parents,
If you haven’t sent in your photo through the Hi-5 app, please don’t worry about it. Several parents have reported difficulties with the process and we are seeing issues with the quality of photos.
Because of these hiccups, we are looking at other options to gather photos, including holding on-campus picture days that would take place outside with physical distancing measures in place. We would also look at hosting students who are in distance learning at a different time so they could have their pictures taken also.
We will be in touch after the break with a new plan for how student photos will proceed. Thanks for your cooperation and support.
With hope,
Dr. Maggie Arnold

Middle schoolers make virtual Target run to help local nonprofit
|
|
Most years, middle schoolers take a trip to Target and spend a couple of hours roaming the aisles to purchase items to donate to Inner City Development for that organizations annual Toy Sale.
Alas, this project has changed for this year.

Congratulations to 8th grader Aarav, for creating and selling cards that he sold to raise money for the Southwest School of Art and items for an assisted living facility.
Aarav made 220 cards out of plant fibers and then painted watercolor images on them, and sold all of them, making a total of $1,100.

4th graders present mini movies
|
|
How can you have a theatre production without a stage? For Ms. Gypsy, it means creating movies. This week, she screened a production of Fourth Grade -- a series of mini-movies. Even in a time of physical distancing, she led the students in creating some fun productions.

“As a piece of work it is just about perfect, and just about magical in the way it is done.”
–Author Eudora Welty reviewing Charlotte’s Web in 1952
If you have some free time during the upcoming Winter Break, you might consider reacquainting yourself with a literary classic: “Charlotte’s Web.” Yes, that beautiful work is still worth reading no matter how long ago you may have read it for the first time.
Author E. B. White draws you in from the very first line:
