This workshop will be conducted from Russell Jewell’s home on Kiawah Island, Monday, August 31, through Wednesday September 2,
9:30am to 12:30pm each day.

The workshop will be limited to six participants.

The initial workshop lessons and demos will begin inside and will progress during the course to Kiawah plein air, weather permitting.
The cost of the workshop is $350.00.
Experienced watercolor painters wishing to explore plein air are encouraged, but all painters are welcome!
The Plein Air Prepare workshop will present watercolor problem-solving skills that will greatly enhance the likelihood of successful paintings for the artist in the studio, as well as plein air.
A sleight of hand seems magical until we learn the tricks. Ninety-nine percent of people CAN trace but think they CAN’T draw; the true problem is, they can’t see. Jewell will teach the tricks to seeing. He will delve into his art educational skills shared with thousands of past students including capturing compositions with his patented viewfinder, and developing thumbnail sketches that mimic his painting techniques. Jewell will explain how to utilize a transparency which allows the artist to literally see into the future of a painting, thus giving the artist confidence and foresight to paint with spontaneity. Jewell’s artistic statement asks the viewer to consider a black square; a black square is actually an image of everything in the world in the dark, therefore, all we have to do is learn to paint the light. Learn to see and paint the light in watercolor with Dr. Russell Jewell in Plein Air Prepare
