We’re hosting a year-long celebration with events, historical tours, community pop up parties, official merchandise, and more throughout 2024!



Perry was founded in 1824 and named in honor of Oliver Hazard Perry, a War of 1812 hero. Perry began as an antebellum industry, including gristmills, sawmills, and cotton gins. Perry was formally incorporated in 1824 as the first municipality in Houston County.


Perry is now known as a premier community of choice and truly “Where Georgia Comes Together.”

District 1 Community Pop-Up Party

We took the 200th Birthday Celebration to parts of District 1 and met many new friends!


Deputy Fire Marshal Ian Harvey, Economic Development Director Holly Wharton, District 1 Council Member Phyllis Bynum-Grace, and Communications Manager Tabitha Clark took Perry's old-fashioned trolley through neighborhoods saying hello and celebrating Perry with them!


We have Pop Up Parties planned for each district throughout the City. Keep a look out for when we're vising YOUR neighborhood!

We invite you to come and shop the deals at the Spring Warehouse Sale in Downtown Perry!


Downtown Perry merchants will set up in the Perry Events Center on Saturday, April 6 from 10 AM to

3 PM for you shop their special sales!

Downtown Historic Tours

Step back in time and discover the heart of Perry's past with our Historic Downtown Perry Bus Tours, a journey through heritage and preservation during Historic Preservation Month for Perry's 200th Birthday!


Led by the Perry Area Historical Society, each hour-long bus tour offers a unique experience, giving you a deeper understanding of our City's rich history!


Tours will begin at Perry First Baptist Church at 1105 Main Street.


A ticket is required for all guests.

Perry Fire Department February 2024 Stats

The Perry Fire Department is a 2 station department that

contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency

medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education,

fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of approximately

23,000 over 28.5 square miles.

Kids Fishing Rodeo


Perry Leisure Services invites the community to the annual Kids Fishing Rodeo!


  • Saturday, April 20
  • 8 AM
  • Rozar Park (1060 Keith Drive)


This event encourages competitive and non-competitive youth to participate in outdoor leisure opportunities and provides a chance to learn more about fishing!


Each participant is asked to bring their own fishing pole and reels. Bait and tackle will be provided while supplies last.


All children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Update on Temporary Impacts to Rotary Centennial Park

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT), in coordination with the City of Perry and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), proposes to replace the bridge on State Route (SR) 7/SR 127/US 41 over Big Indian Creek in Houston County.

Spring Cleanup 2024

Public Work's annual Spring Cleanup event happens April 22 - April 26, 2024 for residential customers!


Items will be picked up on your regular service day.


The bulk collection starts on Monday; however, the actual collection time will vary due to your location, and the total volume and type of materials set out.


This program will include some items that are not normally hauled by your trash service.
