Celebrate Community & Family with GCSS

Welcome to the July edition of Gulf Coast Social Services’ CEO’s Corner newsletter!

July was filled with celebrations, community partnerships, and meaningful activities across Louisiana. As our nation commemorated its 250th anniversary, GCSS celebrated alongside the individuals, families, and communities we serve. From Fourth of July festivities, family fun days, zoo trips, bowling, and outdoor activities to health fairs, resource events, and program awareness meetings, our teams continued bringing our mission of “Personal Care, Quality Outcomes” to life.

This month, we also strengthened relationships with community partners, supported youth mental wellness, connected individuals with employment and healthcare resources, and recognized an employee celebrating eight years of service to GCSS. These moments reflect the dedication of our employees and the strong connections they build within their communities every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make July memorable. To learn more about our services, volunteer, or support our work with a donation, please visit www.gcssla.org.

Thanks,

Sparking Connections: Looking Back at July!

July brought a vibrant wave of connection, celebration, and advocacy across Gulf Coast Social Services!

Our regional teams were active throughout Louisiana, raising awareness and building strong community partnerships. We participated in key local events, including the Youth Mental Health Wellness Fair in Houma, the Upward Health Community Fair in New Orleans, resource fairs in Lafayette, and job expos in Lake Charles, alongside police department engagement in Alexandria and coalition meetings in Avoyelles Parish.

At the same time, our program participants fully embraced the summer heat! From festive 4th of July parties and splash pad outings to bowling nights, park trips, and a Disney Movie Day, the month was packed with fun and fellowship. We also celebrated special moments together—honoring Mr. Wayne Lard’s birthday, recognizing Vanessa Lester’s 8 years of service in Alexandria, and supporting Lafayette’s duffle bag donation drive.

Every splash, gathering, and outreach effort this month directly supports our core mission: empowering individuals with mental, physical, and behavioral challenges to thrive independently right here in our communities.

Congratulations, Vanessa!

Please join us in giving a huge shoutout and congratulations to our Alexandria Business Office Manager, Ms. Vanessa Lester, as she celebrates 8 incredible years with GCSS! Having worn many hats over the years, Ms. Vanessa is truly an invaluable asset and a vital part of the heart of our team.

Thank you, Ms. Vanessa, for your unwavering dedication, hard work, and all that you do to keep us shining! Here’s to many more years of success together!
