Kick off 2020 with Hope + Healing!

2019 brought us our 28th annual Safe + Sober luncheon, 3rd annual Addicted 2 Recovery 5K, the community baby shower, and thousands of hours of Hope + Healing. Some of this is documented in a recap video that can be seen by clicking below.

Going into 2020, we are looking forward to continuing the CHOICES event, offering more prevention education, continuing to work with Toys for Tots, having a bigger and better Addicted 2 Recovery 5K, scaring up some fun at the Shocktober Halloween Festival, and ending our year celebrating a Safe + Sober holiday season.
Safe + Sober
Safe + Sober was held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church. As always the event was free and open to our community and partners.

We were happy to celebrate the beginning of a Safe + Sober holiday season and spend time with those who support hope + healing in the Coastal Bend.

Mayor Joe McComb was also able to attend in order to read a proclamation announcing December 2019 as Safe + Sober month.

New Family Support Group
Tiffany and Stephen with our Recovery Support Services and Youth Recovery Engagement Center are now offering a family support group on Monday evenings from 7-8pm.

They will be available to assist families through the understanding and support of those on their journey to recovery.

They will also share their past experiences and new discoveries in the world of recovery and substance use and abuse in order to remove any and all barriers to long term recovery.
Opioid use in the Coastal Bend
In the December issue of Coastal Bend Medical Magazine, our Community Relations Specialist, Maria Perez, offered a look into the opioid crisis in the Coastal Bend. She also offers a comparison to other larger counties in Texas for us to gain a better understanding of the crisis. For a quote and to read more see below.
Coastal Bend Medicine Magazine November - December 2019
