Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado Senate District 19
Rachel Zenzinger
Colorado Senate Candidate
Nov. 21, 2015
Kick-off event is Dec. 6,
I hope you can join us!

  ,

Just before the Broncos kick off against the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 6, we will have a kick-off event of our own, marking the official start of the campaign to regain the District 19 seat in the Colorado Senate. I hope you'll be able to join us.

I don't think I'm overstating things when I tell you this election could have greater long-term ramifications to Colorado's political climate than any other in the state next November. It's critical that we get a head start - and a STRONG head start, at that.

The event will be held at the Indian Tree Golf Course Club House, 7555 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, noon - 2 p.m. If you want to enjoy every minute of the event with us, you can also plan to watch the Broncos kickoff on the TV available at the club house.

We have dozens of hosts for the event, including Congressman Ed Perlmutter, about 20 current and past state legislators, four city council members, former school board members Lesley Dahlkemper and Jill Fellman, and others!

If you are unable to join us in person, I hope you'll consider helping to kick off this campaign by going to the official website, www.RachelforColorado.com, and donating up to $400.

Thank you!

The real record on veterans

The recent Veterans Day celebration reminded me of some of the ways that I differ from my opponent, and there is an excellent 15-second video on YouTube that drives the point home. While I was in office, I pushed through several bills designed to help veterans and their families.

Unfortunately, my opponent in this election has taken a contrary position, and she voted against bills that would have provided tax breaks for veterans, job training for veterans, and in-state tuition for dependents of active duty military members (House Bills 1181, 1030 and 1215 respectively).

I don't think there is a place in this modern world for such blatant resistance to the support we owe to our veterans. I would have voted in favor of all of those bills; and fortunately enough legislators saw the merits in them to get them passed.
Not too early to volunteer

Thanks to all the supporters who have expressed such enthusiasm upon the news of my candidacy for the State Senate, and thanks especially to those who have already indicated a strong desire to engage in some volunteer work.

While the hands-on tactics (such as door-knocking, stuffing envelopes) remain a bit down the road, we are indeed collecting names and contact information of people who we know we can rely upon for the work ahead.

To add your name to the list, please contact me at [email protected]. Let us know what kinds of activities will best suit you!

One thing you can do to support the campaign NOW is to share this newsletter with friends and family who you think will have some interest in the outcome of this next election. We anticipate that more than 70,000 people will vote, and we want to reach them all! Please send them the link, recommend that they subscribe, or just forward the newsletter. If every person on this list could plan to forward to just one voter, we will reach our destination in a hurry.

Thank you, Tom and Mary!

Thanks to Tom Korson and Mary Mularkey for hosting a recent fundraising event at their home in Denver. We had some high-profile people in attendance, including Gov. Dick Lamm and Former First Lady Dottie Lamm, several current senators and state reps, as well as several candidates; and we engaged in some lively conversation about this election and the state's politics in general. Thanks to everyone who attended and donated!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving
I wish for you, your family and friends the happiest of Thanksgivings.  And as you count your blessings, may I recommend that you consider participating in Colorado Gives Day , where non-profit organizations receive a funding "boost" from Community First Foundation and FirstBank.
Donations

Every important political campaign these days requires significant funding, and this one is no exception. We need to find a way to pay for brochures, direct mail pieces, advertisements and other tools to help make voters aware of their choices. Please consider making any level of contribution to the "Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado" campaign, and help me get elected in 2016.
