Greetings NENSA Community!

Hard to believe it is almost the end of October. Snow has already fallen on some of the high peaks in New England, and our on snow ski season is fast approaching! Take this time to RENEW your annual NENSA membership, or join (or re-join) NENSA! This season, we have a great deal for first time ever NENSA members - our NENSA GETSKIING Free Membership! See box below for all the details on this new membership category. We think once folks try NENSA programing, they too will get hooked on all that NENSA has to offer, all year round! Our GETSKIING free membership is perfect for first time BKL'ers, high school racers who might want to try one of our NENSA races, masters wanting to try a Citizen Race or our popular Women's Day, and every parent and grandparent of a nordic skier out there who just wants to show their NENSA pride, and get their own FREE membership. So if you know someone who has never been a NENSA member before - please encourage them to try our Free GETSKIING membership today!

This Sunday 10/27 NENSA will be hosting The Maine Event, at the Pineland Campus in New Gloucester ME ~ This is the second running of an open Rollerski Cross Country Cross event in the world. This exciting summer version of Cross Country Cross (XCX) builds on aspects of both sprinting and agility. New for 2019, the rollerski event will be preceded by a 5k run on the ski trails at Pineland Farms, as well as a learn to rollerski clinic. This event is also part of our NENSA High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Race Series. Full schedule of the day and more info can be found HERE . Register today on SkiReg.com. I am planning on doing the 5k run and the rollerski course, and I look forward to getting some pro tips first from both our Competitive Program Director Justin Beckwith, and GMVS coach Colin Rodgers, at the rollerski clinic in the morning. This is a great opportunity for masters and coaches to jump in a great agility loop. And if I am going to give it a try - anyone can! Hope to see you there!

Next weekend, November 11/2 and 11/3 will be a full weekend for NENSA - with our 3rd annual Trapp Invitational Rollerski Race at 10am on Saturday 11/2, followed by an end of season Awards Party and ice cream social at the Trapp Family Lodge at 11:30am (see box below for full details). We are looking for volunteers to help with on the course road junctions and bib collection at the finish. Time commitment is 9-11am - if you are interested, please email staff@nensa.net. Volunteer meeting will be at 9am at the Yurt. Thanks!

US Ski & Snowboard US Junior Nationals will be here before we know it. Team New England/NENSA has put the call out for both age group coaches and wax techs. Please consider applying for our trip, which will be Saturday March 7th to Sunday March 15th, in Truckee CA this year! Minneapolis World Cup Tickets on Sale
The 2020 Coop FIS Cross Country Ski World Cup Sprint Finals take place on March 17 at Wirth Park, just outside downtown Minneapolis, Minn. This event will mark the first time in two decades that the world's best athletes have competed on American snow.

U.S. Cross Country Ski Team member, and 2018 Olympic gold medallist, Jessie Diggins will lead more than 20 of her teammates and American competitors who are expected to start a World Cup race in the U.S. for the first time in 19 years.

The Tuesday evening race will cap off the March 14-17 Fastenal Parallel 45 Winter Festival, which will include live music, craft beer, citizen races, and more.

Tickets are on sale and include everything from general admission, all the way up to unique VIP experiences. Be part of this historic moment celebrating worldwide winter sports by volunteering, purchasing a ticket, or becoming a partner, and coming out to Theodore Wirth Regional Park in March of 2020 for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Parallel 45 Cup Rollerski Loppet
Rollerski with America’s Best ~

Featuring multiple past and present U.S. Ski Team members, the inaugural Fastenal Parallel 45 Cup Rollerski Loppet will be one to remember. Olympic Gold medalist Jessie Diggins will be joined in the Women’s Elite race by 2010 Olympian and World Championship Bronze medalist Caitlin Gregg . Notable names in the Men’s Elite race include 4-time Olympian Andy Newell and 2019 U.S. National Champion Kyle Bratrud .

Alongside Commons Park and in the shadow of US Bank Stadium, participants will race laps in criterium style around the block formed by Park, Portland, 3rd and 4th in Downtown Minneapolis. A total purse of $3500 will be given out to the top three finishers of the elite race categories. The race is open to all, with race categories of U14 on up to elite. That said, the course will be fast and the turns tight, so this should not be your first time on rollerskis.

At the finish line following the race, racers and spectators will have the opportunity to connect with the elite racers, including Minnesota’s own Jessie Diggins, just weeks before she and some of the others leave town for the 2019/20 World Cup Season. That season, of course, will culminate in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 17 with the  FIS Coop Cross Country World Cup Sprint Finals , which will be the cornerstone of the  2020 Fastenal Parallel 45  Winter Festival.
