Greetings!

Happy New Year to our Desert Valleys Builders Association members and friends.

For many of us, Friday marked the first day back to work in 2026. It’s back to the grind. For some, that grind starts with a stop at the popular coffee shop on the corner. For others, it’s the work itself that feels like a grind.

That brings me to a simple question: how do we sharpen and hone a knife? And how do we sharpen our skills?

It takes grinding to hone our skills, knowledge, and experiences into something smooth and sharp, allowing us to be more effective and efficient in serving others. The grind can shape us in ways we never expected and help us achieve more than we thought possible.

We kick off 2026 with our Legislative Affairs Forum on Thursday, January 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Rancho Mirage City Hall.

This will be followed by the DVBA Professional Women in Building Public Officials Luncheon on January 14, featuring Indio City Manager Bryan Montgomery, who will speak about new and upcoming projects in the City of Indio. See below to reserve your spot.

On January 30, 2026, join us for the Desert Valleys Builders Association Installation Dinner. Board President Paul Mahoney will introduce the 2026 Board of Directors. Please see event details and registration link below to reserve your place.

Warmest holiday wishes,

James Brownyard

Selected businesses will be featured in front of our engaged community for one month, giving your company more industry exposure and helping you connect with new customers.
