Since 1849, Springboard Community Services (SCS) has supported families, children, and adults across Central Maryland through prevention, intervention, counseling, and advocacy. Building on this long-standing mission, SCS is redeveloping two historic buildings in downtown Baltimore into the Springboard Youth Training Center (YTC), a new community facility designed to help young adults ages 18–24 successfully transition into adulthood. This 21,000-square-foot, $18 million project will serve youth experiencing homelessness and will be the first of its kind in Maryland.

The YTC will offer short-term and permanent supportive housing, holistic case management, job readiness and workforce training, and comprehensive behavioral health and wraparound services. Together, these programs are designed to meet young people where they are, build stability, and improve long-term outcomes. SCS officially broke ground on the YTC in October 2025 and will celebrate this milestone throughout the season, culminating at the Holiday Gala, where the community honored the progress made and the hope this project brings to Baltimore City

Table Of Thanks

On Tuesday, December 9th, the Carroll Springboard Team proudly hosted our first-ever Table of Thanks event honoring the incredible first responders who serve our community.

We were thrilled to provide 40 complimentary meals as a small token of appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice. A special thank you to Mission BBQ, Chick-fil-A, and Olive Garden for the delicious food, and to Food Lion for generously donating refreshments and desserts.

Your support helped make this event truly meaningful. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to those who give so much.

Tenia Thompson

I applied to work at SCS because I am passionate about supporting individuals and families as they work toward stability and self-sufficiency. I am excited for the opportunity to contribute my skills, build meaningful connections, and be part of an organization that creates lasting, positive change in the community.

Bethany Ellis

I chose SCS because their clear motivation to serve people in the community without judgment. My decision was solidified because of the people (now my coworkers and supervisor) that I got to meet in the interview process. It is a bonus that I get to provide therapy to people in my own community that I am growing to love after moving here in June.

Howard County Shout-Out

I’d like to shout out the Case Management department at Howard. Keyli Portillo and Jessica Mays have worked tirelessly for their respective programs and have served a great number of individuals in our community. Keyli is responsible for the H2O program, which has been increasing in popularity within the county. Jessica has worked very hard at finding housing for our clients fleeing domestic violence and has so far successfully housed 2 individuals, with 2 more in the pipeline.
