'Matty Project'

PHASE ONE Announcement

The Kansas Aviation Museum is excited to kick-off our newest renovation and expansion plan. This 4 area project will bring expanded exhibits of our Hall of Fame, Air Capital Theatre, and redesigned Black Aviators Exhibit to honor Rip Gooch. In addition, we are adding a Welcome to Wichita exhibit that will highlight the history of our iconic building.

Our goal is to raise a total of $200,000 by October 31st. With the help of our community partners at Bank of America, Meritrust Credit Union and the City of Wichita, we are on our way. This is a short time, but I am confident, with your help, we will cross the finish line. You can send a donation into the museum, or go to our website and donate there.

"A pilot who says he has never been frightened in an

airplane is, I'm afraid, lying."

Louise Thaden

These words, spoken by the great aviatrix, Louise Thaden, are so real, not just in flight but life. Sometimes taking risks bring excitement, but one would be lying if they didn't admit there is also so fear in that.

As we begin the work for the Matty Project, there is a lot of excitement over what is to come. I am excited to see the expansion to our current exhibits. I am excited to dedicate the Black Aviators exhibit in Rip Gooch's honor. But it also brings some fear as to making them the best exhibits for our museum. Fear shouldn't paralyze us, but rather challenge us to rise to the occasion. In the coming months, we will begin to see this reality take place, and I am glad that you are along for the ride!

Sincerely,

Ben Sauceda
