Georgia Cities Week

The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) sponsored Georgia Cities Week from April 23 - 29. This is an opportunity for local governments to showcase and celebrate their City and the many services they provide!


The City of Perry participated by creating short videos highlighting the day-to-day operations of different City departments.

Swearing In Of Officer Sierra Carroll

Perry Police Officer Sierra Carroll was sworn in last month.


Officer Carroll graduated from the South Georgia Technical College Police Academy and won the Top Shooter Award in her graduating class.

Captain Jesse Riner Receives Award for Completion of the Georgia Chief Fire Officer Program

Congratulations to Captain Jesse Riner for his successful completion of the Georgia Chief Fire Officer Program!


The program, developed by the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association, is to ensure that fire departments in Georgia have qualified, credentialed, and professional leaders and managers overseeing their departments and personnel.

Perry Fire Department 2023 Awards

Perry Fire & Emergency Services nominated 3 crew members for Fire Recruit of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Fire Officer of the Year.

Below are highlights of each crew member and reasons for why they were chosen.


Fire Recruit of the Year - FF. Will Kersey: Continually looking to acquire new information to help him do his job more efficiently; Calm, collected demeanor who is routinely utilized for his life skills and desire to improve himself; Has an exceptional ability to interact with others and creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes those around him feel as though they are a part of something great

 

Firefighter of the Year - FF. Caleb Woods: Has a personal mission to become the best firefighter possible. He pushes his body both mentally and physically; Continues to have a humble approach to each scenario presented and always has attention to detail; Always encourages others to give it their all; Goes above and beyond his expected duties; Recently completed the rigorous Spartan course which entails 24 continuous hours of grueling physical testing of firefighting capabilities; Shows loyalty to his department and is always willing to take on extra responsibilities; Hard-working and goal-oriented firefighter that strives for excellence daily; a solid teammate who you could trust with your life.

 

Fire Officer of the Year - Lt. Tom Schonau: Has dedicated the last 16 years of his life to the City of Perry Fire Department; Notorious for always placing others needs above his own; continually brings his shift together to gain ideas from everyone and strives for group cohesion; wears many hats for our department as an officer, an inspector, and our health and safety manager; always shows a humbled mentality; he continually strives to encourage, motivate, and drive the younger firefighters to be the great firefighters and men that they can be.

Creekwood Splashpad Open for 2023

The Creekwood Park Splash Pad is NOW OPEN!


Operating Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.


Cool off under a variety of water fountains, water cannons, and one very large bucket that splashes onto the pad when filled up with water!


Adults will enjoy watching under large umbrellas and benches situated around the pad. A large picnic area is nearby where you can enjoy your refreshments under the nearby pavilion.


The Splash Pad is located at 1107 Creekwood Drive in Perry.

Summer Bot Building Classes

Registration for the Summer Bot Building Series is NOW OPEN!


The Table Top Robot Workshop for kids ages 9-11 takes place July 10-14 from

9 a.m. - noon.


Students in this workshop will assemble their own table top robot which will teach them about mechanical and robotic engineering concepts. Students will also develop coding skills by utilizing the Spike Prime Lego Robot which combines brick building and coding.


The Hydraulic Robotic Arm Workshop for kids ages 10-13 takes place July 10-14 from 1-4 p.m.


Students in this workshop will assemble their own hydraulic robotic arm which will teach them about hydraulics, simple machines, mechanical and robotic engineering concepts. The students will also develop coding skills by utilizing the Spike Prime Lego Robot which combines brick building and coding.

Safe Kids Worldwide is delighted to celebrate the seventh annual national Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) month this May! It is a time for us to celebrate over 43,000 technicians who serve the community every day, educating families about how to travel safely.


The City of Perry Fire Department offers child safety seat checks free of charge!
