Why Isn't My Child Making Progress? The Importance of Home Programs

Many clients have great attendance to therapy either one or two sessions per week, depending on their needs. Each session is individually tailored with two things in mind: first, the client's immediate needs (such as their current sensory processing ability); and second, their long-term measurable goals. OTs work hard to identify barriers to success in all aspects of the child's life, then devise a program to improve independence across all skill levels and environments. But one or two sessions of therapy per week, unless it includes carryover when the child leaves therapy, is not enough to see significant progress.

A Reminder About our Health Policy

The 2017-2018 flu season is the worst in a decade, according to the CDC, with no signs of letting up any time soon. Pneumonia, strep, and other influenza-like illnesses have been on the upswing, as well, so we felt it was appropriate to emphasize the Kid's Creek Health Policy again.

Kid's Creek Therapy remains  diligent in our efforts on an hourly and daily basis to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all, but we rely on our families to support our efforts.

Do We Have a Copy of Your Child's IEP?

Does your child have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with his or her school? Although it's not necessary to share your child's IEP with us, it can be helpful to your child's therapist to know what's going on at school in order to most effectively coordinate care and treatment. Whenever your child's IEP is updated, consider providing a copy to your child's therapist.
