Special Needs and Behavior: When the Consequences Aren't Working

It's natural for kids to test limits; they all do it. As a parent, therapist, teacher, or loved one, we know we have to set firm boundaries with kids. But what do you do when the boundaries and consequences aren't working?

In a recent blog post, Jessie Nelson Willis shared her thoughts and tips, based on her own experiences, for how to manage a child's behavior when the typical approaches don't seem to be working.

Kid's Creek is thrilled to welcome a new member to the Kid's Creek family!

Jessica Orlick  is our newest speech therapist. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Longwood University and her Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from East Carolina University. She is trained in both PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach to feeding and has worked in a variety of pediatric settings, including in-home early intervention, outpatient, and private practice.
