Kidney Car celebrates 25 years
Kidney Car logo

The Kidney Foundation of Canada launched its first Kidney Car program back in 1992, after learning that The National Kidney Foundation south of the border was running a car donation program to help raise funds. What started as a small pilot in Ontario has grown nationwide and is an important revenue source for The Kidney Foundation to fund its mission. Today, Kidney Car is widely considered the most trusted name in car donation having handled hundreds of thousands of vehicle donations.

Donated vehicles, otherwise known as Kidney Cars, are either recycled or sold, and the proceeds are invested back into activities to help the 1 in 10 Canadians living with kidney disease. The funds support vital kidney research, efforts to provide hope and support to help patients and their families, as well as public awareness initiatives to help raise awareness of kidney health and organ donation.

Amazing Race Seeks Applicants Impacted by Organ Donation

The Amazing Race Canada, which returns for a 6th season in the summer of 2018, is looking for heroes, in particular, every day and unsung heroes who make a difference in their family, community and country. Producers are hoping to tell the story of an individual or team of individuals affected by organ donation / a living kidney transplant, be it as donor, recipient, caregiver or family member. To apply, adventurous, active, energetic teams of two are invited to upload a three-minute video to tell producers why they are ready to win the race together.  Visit their website.
