Questions work!
“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
You're at the park. You meet someone new. They're playing with their children. Your children start playing with theirs. They're like you but different. They look interesting. Connect! "Hi. I haven't seen you here before. Do you come very often?" How did you happen to land in Santa Cruz / Aptos / Watsonville? What do you like to do for fun? Relaxation? Read any good books lately? And just like that you're beginning a new friendship with someone like you, but different.

This is a great time to be visiting schools. Any school worth its salt welcomes your visit, after all they seek a good fit as much as you. Read about them on their website. Talk with friends. Jot down your questions. Above all, visit. May I gently suggest that you, not Yelp, are the best one to make an on site exploration. The moment you enter the front door you will feel the atmosphere.

My homesteading farmer friends are getting their seeds ready, planning on new fruit trees and repairing fences and critter homes. "If you crave crisp apples, juicy peaches, or varieties of fruit that can never be found in the store, they are all within reach in your own backyard." Learn more about this at Bookshop Santa Cruz next week!

Dare we recommend that you take the children to the opera!? Well, this one's for you! Scroll down for a treat from UCSC Opera!

Have a pleasant weekend! Please send us a story! Parmalee
