Using Table Conversations to Disciple your Children
Recently I came across an article about the value of having family table conversations. It reminded me about a talk given by Freda Ricord at one of my first MOPS meetings. She encouraged MOPS moms (and dads) to take advantage of our time around the table to “feed our children’s bellies AND feed their souls.” Meaning, be intentional with the time you have when your kids are happily eating and bring up conversations about Jesus.
Fall is Here!
Nothing like the hint of fall in the air to lift your spirits. I mean what could be better for your soul than sipping a pumpkin spice latte in front of a fire pit on a crisp evening?

What? You don’t like pumpkin spice anything? No problem. There are plenty of other activities you can do with your family to create fun during this fall season.

Halloween 2020 and COVID-19:
What is changing this year?
In a year that's been plenty scary, this much is clear: Pandemic Halloween will be different than regular Halloween. Many traditional ways of celebrating are now considerably more frightful than usual, because now they bring the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

Accordingly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued new guidelines on how to celebrate Halloween safely. No big surprise: Classic door-to-door trick-or-treating and crowded, costume parties are not recommended. ...Read more
Sunday School is Back!
During October, Pastor Laurie will be preaching on four “journey” stories in Scripture: Call of Abraham, the Exodus, 40 years in the wilderness, and the story of Ruth. Laurie, Erika and Stacy thought it would be fun for kids and families to have a Sunday School experience to journey through each of these stories in Howell Auditorium with crafts and activities.

Here are the nuts and bolts:

  • Each week you will sign up to enter the building by contacting me (stacy@wspc.org) to reserve your entry time.
  • On Sunday, meet in the courtyard and wait under an empty canopy. Erika will invite you to enter once it is your time.
  • You will pick up your activity box and take it to table where there will be instructions to guide you through the crafts and activities.
  • There will be an intro activity, a memory verse, and a craft.
  • No more than 3 families will be in Howell at a time and each family will have a clearly marked area around their table that is their space.
  • All supplies such as glue/crayons/scissors etc. will be in a designated family activity box and placed back in the box when finished.
  • This activity box and the supplies in it will only be used by your family for the month of October.

We know you might have questions! Stacy plans on contacting each family to catch up and help clarify this October Sunday School experience. We hope you join us for this fun activity for family time, distanced social time, and a more indepth look at the sermon for the kids!
