"Hoo-hoo" - owls cry;

"Whoosh, whoosh" - hats fly!

Those two lines from the Barefoot Book Listen, Listen sure describe the feeling of autumn in October - the time for tucking in and getting ready for what's to come.

The book is one of our favourites, but if you're still trying to pick yours, you're almost out of time! Our Barefoot Book Fair goes until the end of this week, and your last chance to participate is at our Kids Clothing Swap on Oct. 19.

Drop in to drop off your form, and stick around to stock up on winter weather gear for the sound effects artist in your life. It runs from 11am - 2pm on Sunday, and if you bring items into Buddings by Friday, entry and your first 10 items are free!

Johanna and the kids have been snuggling down on Tuesdays, exploring stories from around the world. This week, the story is about that warm feeling you get when you do something for others. It's about bravery and love, and you can catch up on the blog.

Hopefully your Thanksgiving Weekend was warm and full of food and family. We all have so much to be thankful for.

All the best!

Never been to a clothing swap before? No problem! Our FAQ Blog Post has the answers to all your questions about how it works.

Still need all that stuff? That's fine, too. We have lots of stuff for little kids, and at $1 per item, you can stock your closets, and keep your money in your your pocket.

It's open to families everywhere so feel free to invite your friends. There's an event listing on our Facebook Page.

Tuesday in Big Kids Club: A Lesson in Love

If you haven't heard, Big Kids Club is our afternoon program of structured play and learning. It runs from 1 - 4pm, with an awesome mix of songs, stories, discussion, and experiential activities suitable for all the kids, but especially geared towards 3 - 5 year olds.

On Tuesdays, Johanna finds traditional stories from around the world, and brings them to life! Last week, she and the kids visited the Comanche people of the Southern US, and got a lesson in loving

more than yourself.

The touching story was a jumping off point for the rest of the day, and you can find Johanna's explanation of the activities, the story, and the lesson they all took home, on the blog.

Want to open your child's eyes to a world of culture and food? Sign up for Johanna's World Stories and Food class on Tuesdays, and let them tell you all about it!

Barefoot Book Forms Due - Oct. 19

Our Barefoot Book fair display is down, but if you took home a catalogue and order form, you have until the end of the week to make up your mind.

Forms should be returned to Buddings by Oct. 19 - *that's our Clothing Swap, by the way!

The selection of books was beautiful and all the teachers loved reading the new stories with the kids, and especially, the chance to talk about the books with parents.

You can also find the catalogue and online ordering on Veronika's webpage, and until Oct. 19, when you make a purchase, a percentage of all the sales will be reimbursed to Buddings for new books to add to our library!
