AJ MEERWALD SAILS AT

MAURICETOWN RIVERFEST

Saturday, September 16th, 8:30 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.

Set sail aboard the AJ Meerwald, one of the hundreds of oyster schooners that graced the Delaware Bay in the 1920s! CU Maurice River in partnership with the National Park Service's Wild and Scenic Rivers Program has sponsored two cruises on the AJ Meerwald, New Jersey's Official Tall Ship, during the Mauricetown Riverfest!

Passengers are responsible for their own transportation back to their cars. We recommend leaving one car at your end point or carpooling with another family. Ubers or Lifts can be quick or very slow to arrive in our area. If you are considering using one of these services, please schedule extra time to enjoy all that the Bayshore Center has to offer.

Sail times are approximate from 2.5 hours to 3 hours in length depending on conditions.

This adult-centered trip will be a guided river tour and will include knowledgeable birders pointing out various birds along the way. Passengers will leave from the Bayshore Center at 8:30 a.m.

Through observation and hands-on activities, this family sail will offer the opportunity to explore and interact with a national ecological treasure, the Wild and Scenic Maurice River. Some possible activities for the sail include learning how to use charts for navigation, live fish identification, and help raising the ship's sails. Passengers will leave from Mauricetown Riverfront Park at 3:00 p.m.

Come to Mauricetown on September 16th

to celebrate the unique natural, cultural, and scenic resources of the Wild and Scenic Maurice River.


CU Maurice River has partnered with the Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission and the Mauricetown Historical Society to offer live music, guided trail walks, an architecture and history walk speakers, historic village tours, fine arts and crafts, hands-on activities for kids, local authors, and delicious food.


During the Mauricetown Riverfest, artists will be set up around the village using the landscape as inspiration to create works of art. Visitors can even purchase their work! In addition, outdoor educators will be leading walks at two nearby nature trails. All the while, a speaker series will be held inside the historic Mauricetown United Methodist Church.
