ITRC's 2026 Impact Award Winner

Kim Nimmer


The ITRC Impact Award recognizes an ITRC member who has made significant contributions to the organization and the broader environmental community.


Her nomination stated that "Kim was the gold standard example for other members to embrace the organization both professionally and personally."

Professional Career:

  • North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (20 years)
  • City of Raleigh, NC Manager's Office, Senior Policy Analyst
  • Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA), Planning and Development Manager

ITRC

  • Active leader, mentor, and member on several project & training teams
  • Co-Team Leader for the Microplastics team
  • Trainer for multiple ITRC project teams including Microplastics and CEC - representing ITRC with audiences in Australia and Europe
  • Led multiple subgroups, most recently the Sustainable Waste team

The award will formally be presented at the ITRC Annual Meeting on April 21, 2026. 

ITRC is a program of the Environmental Research Institute of the States (ERIS). ERIS is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the District of Columbia and managed by the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS).
