August 2025 Newsletter

Five years ago, these little ones entered the world facing incredible challenges but surrounded by love, compassion, and hope. Today, they’re packing backpacks, lacing up sneakers, and heading off to their very first day of kindergarten.

For their mommas and daddies, it’s a moment full of pride… and a little bit of heartbreak. We know how bittersweet these milestones can feel, but we also know the power of a strong beginning.

Because of your support, these children were embraced with trauma-informed, compassionate care during their earliest, most vulnerable days. And now? They’re thriving.

Hushabye is world-changing. Each baby we serve is a ripple—a wave of hope, healing, and transformation. These kindergarten milestones are your milestones, too.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our donors, partners, and community. You're part of the reason these families get to celebrate today.

Come for the Cause.

Stay for the Magic.

Have you purchased your tickets yet? You won't want to miss our 3rd Annual event. Join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars at our signature event, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - a night filled with hope, heart, and impact.

It isn't just a gala. It's a celebration of the tiny lives we hold close every day at Hushabye Nursery. With your help, our babies born withdrawing from opioids are thriving in our community. Come meet the people behind the mission and hear firsthand stories of how your support has helped so many.

When Paige went in for her 20-week ultrasound, she knew she had a hard question to ask. She had been taking methadone and wondered if it would be better for her baby if she stopped before delivery. Her doctor didn’t hesitate. He recommended Hushabye Nursery for support after the birth. And that recommendation changed everything.

After baby Scarlette arrived, Paige came to Hushabye Nursery filled with both hope and uncertainty. What she found was not just care, but compassion.

“Everyone at Hushabye was welcoming and very understanding,” Paige shares. “They listened to our concerns and tried to do everything they could to get our Scarlette through the difficult time. We were there for 10 days, and it went by much faster than I expected.”

She describes the staff as knowledgeable and present, ready to answer questions and offer comfort when it mattered most.

Looking ahead, Paige reflects on what she wants Scarlette to know as she grows. "Don't be afraid to ask for help. It's okay. Everyone needs help sometimes."

When asked to sum up Hushabye Nursery in one word, Paige doesn't hesitate: Compassionate.

That one word is what we strive to embody every day—for every baby, every parent, every journey. And it’s stories like Paige and Scarlette’s that remind us why we do what we do.

According to the 2023 America's Health Rankings reports, Arizona had 10.3 NAS hospitalizations per 1000 births, a rate higher than the national average.

At Hushabye Nursery, we are working to change that. Through education and compassionate, evidence-based care, we're breaking the cycle of addiction. By combining peer support, mental health services, and a trauma-informed environment, we don’t just treat symptoms — we address the root causes.

Your support helps us break generational patterns and build futures for babies and families.

Diamond in the Sky

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 2025 will shine even brighter thanks to our Diamond Sponsor, Casino Arizona. Your steadfast partnership cradles babies in comfort, surrounds parents with hope, and lights the path to healthy beginnings for every family we serve. We’re honored to celebrate another year of life-changing impact together.

Thank you for your continued support!

"Without question, the most rewarding part of the job is spending time with each baby. These wonderful little people are just beginning their journeys, and being able to help give them a strong, loving start in life is a gift.”

The three words that Cindy believes Hushabye Nursery encompasses are passion, dedication, and compassion.

At Hushabye Nursery, our volunteers are the soul of our mission. This month, we are honored to spotlight Cindy Misbeek, one of our incredible volunteers whose quiet dedication speaks volumes and whose impact ripples through every tiny life she touches.

Cindy explains why she keeps coming back. “For me, it’s the importance of the mission. I’m continually inspired by the incredible staff and the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful. Even in a small way, it’s fulfilling to help people move forward in a positive direction.”

Volunteering at Hushaybe Nursery has changed Cindy. "This work has introduced me to people I never would have met otherwise. It has expanded my understanding of the many challenges families face and deepened my empathy in a way I never expected.”

We are so grateful for Cindy and all of our volunteers. Their time, heart, and unwavering belief in the power of healing are the foundation of everything we do.

Hushabye Nursery in the News

Despite the setback in federal funding, Hushabye’s resilience shines through. FOX 10 helped us celebrate our 1000th baby milestone by visiting us. We're always so proud to show off the nursery.

ABC15 shared our partnership with the Lullaby Project using the power of music for healing. The Lullaby Project is a program of Carnegie Hall where professionals write personal lullabies for babies. This partnership was especially close to our heart because Tawni is not only a faithful employee, but she is also a success story whom we are so proud of.
