Inclement Weather

As winter approaches, the condition of roads can change frequently. Safety is our top priority at Qualicum School District, and in light of this, some bus routes may be adjusted occasionally. This is particularly due to certain side streets that may become impassable in specific weather conditions. To stay informed and connected during unpredictable weather times, please click on the link below for more information. Your safety is important to us, and we appreciate your understanding in these circumstances.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Ballenas Secondary

Hockey, Hockey, Hockey!

Ballenas staff and students recently celebrated the annual Spirit of Hockey Cup! This event is highlighted by a friendly hockey game between the staff and students, featuring participants from the District's Hockey Academy. The afternoon started with a pre-game warm-up skate, followed by the singing of the national anthem, O'Canada. The game began after the Ceremonial Puck Drop by Trustee Young, with a first period run time of 25 minutes. During the intermission, the Senior Football Team players provided half-time entertainment with Human Bowling and Crazy Carpet Races. At second period the staff realized they were being out-skated, so they decided to lace up their determination and crank their game up a notch! The game was filled with fun, skill, and a bit of friendly banter, resulting in a landslide victory for the students with a final score of 11-2. Thanks to the thrilling outcome of the game, the District is contemplating spicing up their job postings by throwing in a new requirement: "Must have a high level of hockey skills. 🏒💼 Get ready to bring your A-game."

Sincere thanks to Coach Andrew Lee for orchestrating such a well-organized event.
