From the President
In the United States, April is National Volunteer Month—a month dedicated to recognizing the importance of volunteering and honoring the significant contributions volunteers make by generously donating their time and talents to worthy causes.
|
|
Our Kindervelt volunteers are some of the best around! In the final two months of our fiscal year, we have the calendar packed with many events which will all help boost the check amount! Mark your calendars for May 18th so you don’t miss attending the Annual Meeting and our 2nd check presentation to the Division of Critical Care Medicine and the PICU. All members are encouraged to attend. It’s always so fun to be a part of the live reveal of the check amount and it’s sure to be a very sizable amount as our groups have really been working hard now that some COVID restrictions have been lessened. I so admire the dedication everyone has been displaying to round out our year.
The slate for the 2022-2023 Board of Trustees is presented in this newsletter. Many thanks to such a wonderful group of ladies who have so graciously agreed to serve the organization. We will vote to approve the slate and install the officers at the Annual Meeting.
Groups will be busy selecting their officers this month for the 2022-2023 year. It’s a perfect month to do such a task as it’s the month recognizing the importance of volunteerism, so don’t be shy…raise your hand!!
|
|
Happy Spring and Happy Easter! As you enjoy all the wonders of this beautiful season, try to support a group hosting a Spring event! There are plenty to select from, all listed in this edition of the newsletter.
As always, I thank you so much for all you do for Kindervelt and CCHMC. We are making a difference and changing the outcome, TOGETHER!

Annual Barbara Fitch Award Nominations
Nominations due April 15th.
|
|
It's time for our annual Barbara Fitch Award nominations. The committee is looking for an exemplary individual to honor, so please consider for nomination any current Kindervelt member in good-standing with at least 5 years service. This person should be dedicated and committed--one who is an ambassador for Kindervelt in the community, who is an active contributor to her local group, and who gladly gives her time, talents and energy to promote our cause. The nominee should represent the true spirit of charity as well as embody the mantra "others before self".
The 2022 award winner will be honored at this year's Annual Meeting On May 18th.

Help Us Complete the Story
The Kindervelt Tennithon story is being written by Sharon Folzenlogen and Karen Bellman, 1989 and 1991 Tennithon chairpersons respectively, for the upcoming 50 th Kindervelt anniversary book. The bells and whistles about how the project was organized, the monies raised, the event itself, are mostly completed. But the voices of so many Kindervelt members who tirelessly worked on the Tennithon steering committees are missing. We want you to be heard. Sharing a fond memory or a funny anecdote would reflect the fun we had raising funds for CCHMC. Please get in touch with Sharon or Karen via email at folzenlogenme@fuse.net or jbellman1@cinci.rr.com. Include your phone number if you would like to speak to either one of us. We would welcome the opportunity to catch-up.

KV #3 We are grateful to be back meeting in person. Zoom worked well, but there is no substitute for being together! We have put together our slate of officers for the next fiscal year and are exploring ways to engage more of our members. Specifically, we are using a program called Doodle to poll members as to the best meeting days and times. Our talented members are also beefing up the offerings for "First Friday" in April and May, creating wonderful goodies that are available for purchase within the group. Of course, we continue to support regional and city-wide events and are looking forward to attending the Annual Meeting.
KV #16 Sends a big Thank You to all the members who baked or who helped sell all our delicious bakery items at the St. Clare Fish Fry! It was a huge success and kept all our baking skills ready for when we can resume our KV bake sales at the Hospital! Thank you everyone!
KV #45 is welcoming another new member, Andrea Roberts, who is our third new member this year!!
KV #56 Special thanks to Libby Baker, who is our consummate promoter in our Giant Jelly Bean sales department. Another Special thank you to Debbie Linneman and hubby, Terry for all the wood patterns and wood cutouts for our craft projects. We also want to thank Carolyn Riehle for opening her home again as craft central. Sue Hammel has given many fun and creative craft ideas that we turn into a profit.
KV #68 would like to welcome our two new members Kelly Bollinger and Janice Miller. We are so happy to have them. We also thank Cindy Metz for opening her home for our meeting and Janet Bretnitz for the dessert.
