From the President
Season’s Greetings everyone!

Many of you attended our Fall Event: Laughter…The Best Medicine. The title lived up to its name with a fun night of comedy and camaraderie with friends of Kindervelt generously giving to our kids and patient families at Cincinnati Children’s. Kim Lucken led the night and what a fun night it was! Many thanks to Kim and her fantastic team of volunteers. From all the behind the scenes jobs, decorations, raffle baskets, silent auctions, wine pulls and Fund A Cure auctions, the North Region definitely came together to make a difference!

We were all moved by our champion speaker, David Moskowitz, who spoke about his rare pediatric stroke at the age of 17 and spending time in the PICU. His remarkable journey of stereotactic radiosurgery to prevent brain bleeding and months of physical and occupational therapy over the next three years allowed David to graduate from high school and attend the University of Cincinnati where he received his degree in nursing. The doctors and nurses at Cincinnati Children’s left such an impression on him and his family that he knew his calling was to become a nurse. David is currently a nurse in the same PICU unit where he spent over a month recovering from his stroke. Our hats go off to all the wonderful doctors and nurses who take care of patients and their families every day.

A big thank you to KV Krafts for wrapping up their season successfully. Shout out to Bonnie Hueneman and the team of volunteers who spent hours baking, sewing, wood crafting, setting up, tearing down and selling all the items with a friendly smile and a Kindervelt heart of gold. The final KV Kraft shows were held at Children’s Hospital and the Westside Market. Children’s employees were thrilled to see us back selling our crafts and homemade baked goods in the hospital after some restricted time away. Our new venue this year, the Westside Market, proved to be a successful day full of holiday shoppers on a beautiful sunny November afternoon.

Now that the holidays are upon us and our lives are even busier, take some time to enjoy the little things. Here’s wishing you and your families the most joyous holiday season.

Your friend in Kindervelt,
Cindy Burger
