From the President
February 2nd is Groundhog Day. Some say if a groundhog emerges from hibernation and sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If the groundhog does not see his shadow, spring will arrive early. Whether you’re a fan or supporter of Groundhog’s Day, it’s clear spring is on its way.

Are you a fan or supporter of Kindervelt?  A fan is a person who has a strong interest in something.  A supporter is a person who is actively interested in something. Please consider being actively interested in Kindervelt. Our Nominating Committee is looking for supporters of Kindervelt who want to become more involved and become a member of our leadership team.
Be a supporter of Kindervelt and reach out to our Nominating Chair, Bonnie Hueneman at [email protected] for ways to join our team.

Who couldn’t use a little more activity in the winter months? Our first annual Kindervelt Pickleball tournament is Saturday February 25th. Get in on the new craze that everyone is talking about and register today!

I’m thrilled our Citywide Event, Let the Good Times Bowl, is back. Teams will receive pizza, party favors and chances to win special prizes. Grab some friends and join the fun Saturday March 4th at Stone Lanes.

Valentine’s day is a day to express love. I love being a Kindervelt member! What a loving and kind group of women who support each other for the common goal of giving back to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The month of February celebrates Valentine’s Day and together, we can make the world a kinder place, where all people feel loved and valued.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

Let’s spread a little love, a little kindness and enjoy a little chocolate along the way.

Member Profile - Suzanne Nemeth

Suzanne is a member of KV #65, Pleasant Ridge. She and her husband, Balazs, are raising four children and leading very busy lives. You may see her out running, on the River rowing or taking a break reading. The 3 R's! And she is fluent in Hungarian.

Suzanne grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from Purdue University with a dual degree in Biology and BioChemistry. She came to Cincinnati and attained her MBA at Xavier University in Business Intelligence. Her 24 year career has been spent at Procter and Gamble, currently working as Director of Innovations. Suzanne is a business leader driven by her passion to learn and deliver breakthrough capabilities in the workforce. She has invested time and energy networking and establishing mentor/mentee relationships. And she has found much fulfillment in collaborating with others- both in the work force and with Kindervelt.

A motto that is a capstone for Suzanne is "Nothing ventured, nothing gained, sometimes you have to go against the grain." She states that she is encouraged to go beyond the status quo and challenge the thought processes. This philosophy has spilled over into every aspect of her life.

Their son, Alex was born with Down Syndrome and at age 4 had successful open heart surgery. Being part of Kindervelt has opened her eyes to all the great things our organization and CCHMC has to offer. Our fundraising efforts and members are a presence for the great medical professionals and staff- all of whom have helped the Nemeth family on their life's journey. Kindervelt is a way to "pay it forward ". Suzanne currently is group #65's Vice President and Co-Chair of our up-coming Winter Fundraiser- LET The GOOD TIMES BOWL. Please support this next citywide event and help Suzanne, her Co-Chair, Andi Mapes, and their committee, have a very successful event.

See above for all information for Let the Good Times Bowl.

KV #8 Wyoming #8 wants to thank our Fall event chairs for a job well done: Laurie Gorby, Fall Festival; Amy Getgey, Wreath Sale; Carla Roller and Kelly Anderson, Christmas Tree Sale. Plus thanks to all the ladies of #8 (and many husbands) who manned booths, dragged trees, sold wreaths, donated time and baked goods, spirits, etc. and generally made our events a success!

KV #19 is hard at work planning for our big spring event, Lunch at the Links. This year, we are hosting the lunch on April 29, at the Heritage Club. The theme will be "Run for the Roses!" We are happy to be off to a great start getting sponsorships together for the event. If you'd like to personally become a sponsor or know a business that might be interested in becoming one, please reach out to our sponsorship chair, Suzy McBrayer at [email protected]

We would also like to thank Kathy Olberding for stepping up and hosting our January meeting.  Thanks also to Bonnie Hueneman for providing the delicious desserts.

KV #77 sponsored 2 families at Christmas which was of course greatly appreciated by all and so much fun. Maybe our group ladies had more fun than those we helped!

KV #29 send their congratulations to Barb and Bob Diener who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on January 18th. Barb is a 50 year member of Kindervelt and a former City President. Her husband Bob was an executive for McAlpins - a major sponsor of the KinderKlaus Markt and other Kindervelt events.
KV #45 sends sincere condolences to Lin Wolf, her sisters, Cece and Betty on the loss of their nephew Joe Brewster.

KV #78 sends our deepest sympathy to Katrina Smith and the entire Flasher family on the loss of her father Harry Flasher. He has been a wonderful supporter of Kindervelt for quite some time.
