From the President
I hope you all are enjoying some summer fun. My grandchildren have reminded me that summer fun is a time to go barefoot, make a sand castle, run through a sprinkler, eat a dripping ice cream cone and admire fireworks along the river.

Whatever activities you do this summer, increasing our membership can be on our list of fun. Kelly Anderson is hosting a social gathering to attract new members. Please join us Sunday, August 28 at Third Eye Brewing Company. I encourage you to bring a friend, neighbor, coworker or relative. Let’s show them how much fun Kindervelt can be!

Tennis anyone? Sign-ups for the Western & Southern Tennis Open are underway. Debbie Clerc is accepting volunteers August 13-21 to assist in selling tennis souvenirs and cups of ice. The hours of volunteer service are assisting the tournament in their continued efforts to raise money for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Plans are underway for this year’s Fall Event: Laughter…The Best Medicine. Kim Lucken and her team are busy planning and preparing for a fun evening of dinner, auction and comedy. Come and laugh along with us Friday, November 4.

Kindervelt Krafts are creatively using their skills during the summer months. Bonnie Hueneman and her committee are busy gearing up for the fall season ahead of us. Check out the dates in this newsletter to see where you can help.

Continue to enjoy your fun summer activities.
Thank you for all you do and I hope to see you August 28.

Cindy
Cindy Burger
Kindervelt City President
Member Highlight - Cindy Burger
The perfect member for our summer KV newsletter spotlight is our new City-Wide President, Cindy M. Burger. Here is an introduction to our next member who will be representing Kindervelt and presiding over our membership.

Cindy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She pursued a degree in Business Management from Purdue University. Her background in business led to careers in the retail industry and later as an owner of a concrete construction company. Cindy later traded her hard hat for a soft life in the burbs. She has called Cincinnati home for the past 32 years. She is married to Jim Burger and together they raised four children. They are the proud grandparents to eight grandchildren and are awaiting number nine due in January. Jim is Vice President of Facilities for CCHMC and they both know how very special Children's Hospital is to our community. Cindy enjoys being with family and attending many of her grandchildren's activities. She feels blessed to have all her children and grandchildren living in the Tri-state area. "I can't remember a time when I didn't volunteer", quotes Cindy. She has volunteered many hours through her church, PTA, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts just to name a few. Cindy currently volunteers in the Cincinnati Children's Gift Shop and is a member of the Junior Cooperative Society. Her active volunteer hours found her as President of the Jr. Co-Op Society from 2016-2020. It was ten years ago that Cindy became acquainted with the ladies in KV# 16 of White Oak. There she is an active member taking on the roles of group President and Treasurer. A love of all things Kindervelt led to positions on the Board of Trustees.
Her goal as citywide President is to raise awareness of who we are. "We are all raising money in our own unique ways for the common goal of helping children." Cindy is passionate about Kindervelt because she is passionate about kids.

We look forward to seeing what the next chapter in your book of life has in store for our Kindervelt community.

Feel free to contact Cindy with any ideas, suggestions and or concerns.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to Become 988
By Regina Vogt, LISW-S
Beginning on July 16, 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) will transition to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The original phone number will remain active. Anyone in the United States experiencing a mental health crisis will be able to call, text, or chat the 988 number in order to reach a crisis mental health therapist. President Biden signed this initiative into law as a response to increase in mental health challenges that many citizens have experienced since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For information on the State of Ohio’s process for rolling out the 988 crisis number, please visit https://mha.ohio.gov/about-us/priorities/ohios-988-implementation.

Fall Event -"Laughter...The Best Medicine"
The Ladies of the North Region are having a planning meeting on August 3rd at the Liberty Center Sabin facility for the Fall Event: "Laughter…The Best Medicine" which will be held on November 4th at the Jewish Community Center. This fun filled evening will Include dinner, games, silent auction, and a comedy performance from Scott Long!

Scott Is a top-rated corporate comedian and has been seen on NBC, FOX TV, and The Bob and Tom Show. He has performed in 46 states and five countries. Scott's clean show is known for his customized material and improvisational skills. One major thing that makes Scott Long's performance stand out versus other comics is how his daughter, on the autism spectrum, has taught him the most in life.

The show is great for everyone. So, plan on attending and bring neighbors and friends to enjoy a fun filled evening raising funds for Children's Hospital.

KV #49 along with Tech Master Tracy Smith (Grp. #57) held their Comedy Show, “Let’s Laugh, For Kids Sake” on June 14th at Go Bananas Comedy Club in Montgomery.
Besides a fantastic show featuring top notch comedians along with a couple of local “amateurs,” the night featured split the pot, gift baskets, a Bingo/dice game and dozens of door prizes given away. A high-end Bourbon Raffle was quite successful as well! For one night of fun, we brought in over $7,000.
Many many thanks to all who attended, supported, donated or worked our event.
We felt a lot of “Kindervelt Love” that night.❤️ It truly was a group/community effort!
