Like all of us in WNC, our hearts are heavy with grief after seeing the damage that Hurricane Helene has done to the people and places that we love. We are grateful that our staff are safe and accounted for. And we are holding those who still await word from their loved ones in our hearts and thoughts. The recovery from this will be long and challenging. And we know that the people of WNC are up for this challenge, especially if we work together to find practical solutions for the problems we are facing.
Eblen Charities has started a Hurricane Recovery Fund, to help our neighbors here in WNC. These funds will be used to help people remain housed by paying back-due mortgages and rents; pay for gasoline; and assist with medical needs. These funds will also allow us to help people who normally would not need our help but who may be facing a job loss. We know that our community’s recovery will be long, and we will need to provide support to care for our neighbors. If you are in a position to help or to help us, get the word out, please do. Every bit helps.
And if you need help, we are here for that as well. Our office at 23 Hamilton Street Asheville NC 28801 will be open Monday through Friday, 11 AM – 1 PM.
We are working through some details for our regular fall giveaway events. Please continue to check Facebook, Instagram and our website for updates.
This is a hard, difficult time for our community. As Arthur Ashe said, “Start where you are, use what you have. Do what you can.” We are here, with you, to do what we can.
