Happy Autumn! As the leaves change, and the temperature starts to drop, we get busier at Eblen Charities. It is an exciting time for us!

We’ve added several new staff to our team to better serve our community. They are busy training and learning the details of our programs in advance of the busy winter season.

Fundraising is gearing up with our annual Pumpkins and Boosters campaign, and we are busy delivering them to area schools and businesses who are eager to help us raise funds for our work. These funds will help provide warm clothing, Thanksgiving meals and holiday gifts along with other assistance in the months ahead to our neighbors.

Our other big news – we are preparing to move! Next month we will move from the Westgate Shopping Center to 23 Hamilton Street in Asheville - just down the street from Mission Hospital. For more than 14 years, we’ve been housed at the Westgate Shopping Center and we are grateful to the folks at FIRC for being such wonderful hosts. Over time, we have outgrown this space. Our new location will give us dedicated warehouse space to run our giveaways, an intentionally designed space for our case workers, and give much more accessibility to our clients using public transportation. This move has been in the works for much of 2023, and we are looking forward to being in the new space – and celebrating with you at an Open House and ribbon cutting in December. Stay tuned for more details on that event!

EBLEN AWARDED GRANT! THANK YOU FOR VOTING!

Eblen was awarded one of the $10,000 Asheville Chamber of Commerce's 125th anniversary grants

at their celebration event on September 28.

THANK YOU FOR VOTING in June and July!

Your vote made the difference and will allow us to provide more gas vouchers to people in our community needing a little extra help to get to

a job interview or a medical appointment.

You might see these friendly ghosts floating around WNC. Thank you, Bojangles, First Citizens Bank and HomeTrust Bank for helping us raise much needed funds by selling Boosters for a Buck.

MEET OUR NEW STAFF

Marritza Davis - Healthy Opportunities Specialist (L/Top mobile) Recently relocated from Maryland, Marritza comes to us from the banking world. She is a single mom of twins with a eagerness to serve.

Karen Major - Caseworker (R/Bottom mobile) During COVID, Karen went back to school. She most recently worked with the STEP program helping others on their career path.

Brittany Mehaffey - Caseworker (L/Top mobile) A native of Weaverville, Brittany previously worked in the medical field and is a cosmologist on the side.

Robin Ramsey - Caseworker (R/Bottom mobile) Robin previously worked at Candler Elementary and saw first hand the impact Eblen has on our community.
