Positive Impact is a Two-Way Street at Kinetic Kids!

In 2011, nine-year-old Aiden Hobbs started participating in Kinetic Kids programming. Over the next decade, Aiden tried out any sport he wanted, including golf, gymnastics, swim, CrossFit, diving, and bike camp! His memories are founded in the bonds he made with his gymnastics Coach Amy, swim Coach Scott, and diving Coach Alix. Coach Alix even helped Aiden overcome a fear of heights as she helped him jump off the 10m board! We love remembering success stories like Aiden's!
But here is another result we love to see! When Aiden's family saw the impact Kinetic Kids was making on so many children’s lives, they knew they wanted to give back. So, Aiden's older sister Erin, his older brother Gareth, and mom Nia began volunteering the same year Aiden became a Kinetic Kid. The impact on Erin and Gareth is clear. Erin is now pursuing an Occupational Therapy Doctorate degree while also serving as a Kinetic Kids swim coach, and Gareth is completing a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on prosthetic development! Erin still loves seeing her Kinetic Kids grow up over the years as they return season after season and credits some of her proudest moments to teaching with Kinetic Kids. Not to be left out, Nia also served as a volunteer for the Hootenanny auction which she chaired for four years!
While life has certainly changed for the Hobbs family over the last 10 years, without a doubt, Kinetic Kids has had one of the largest and most influential impacts on each member of the family. Nia sums it up best, “For me, Kinetic Kids means acceptance. My son has ‘quirks’ and differences, but at Kinetic Kids, that’s normal, it doesn’t matter--everyone still participates and has fun no matter what.”

We love that we are celebrating 20 years of impactful stories like these! Thank you to all our families, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and staff who help us make a difference!
