Led by Washington Alliance for Better Schools, Workforce Central, College Success Foundation, and Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County

We help young people, especially those furthest from opportunity, envision and achieve high opportunity careers in our regional economy by building a career connected education system through a collaborative network of K-12, higher education, industry, labor, and community-based organizations. Specifically, we serve as a regional support hub to



• Increase equitable participation in career connected learning opportunities 
• Build network capacity to equitably scale career connected learning
• Champion a cohesive and responsive career connected learning regional ecosystem 

Alexis Sanchez completed a 270-hour Software Development Pre-Apprenticeship program at Computing for All, a Career Connect WA intermediary, last spring. She went on to work as an intern in UX Design at Smartsheet for two months last summer and is currently attending college and looking forward to being the first person to graduate from college in her family.

“I learned so much while interning with Smartsheet! I was placed with the UX design team that included a few of the mentors I was familiar with from our CFA class. The mentors were very helpful and engaging. They helped create a comfortable work environment for me. On top of learning new UX/UI skills that have already helped me in my college classes this fall, I was also able to gain valuable work experience for my future career. What is Career Connected Learning?

Career Connected Learning is an education strategy that braids K-12 and postsecondary education pathways with career awareness, career preparation, and work-based learning opportunities to improve education outcomes for students and ensure a skilled and ready workforce for our communities. 

Every young adult in Washington will have multiple pathways toward economic self-sufficiency and fulfillment, strengthened by a comprehensive state-wide system for career connected learning.

• In order for every young adult to succeed, we must intentionally focus on populations furthest from opportunity, especially students of color, Indigenous students, low-income students, rural students, and students with disabilities. 

• We acknowledge that systemic racism has held students back, especially Black and Indigenous students, and we aspire to build an anti-racist system for career connected learning.

BIPOC-led Regional Advisory Cohort (BRAC). The Regional Network is convening BIPOC-led non-profit organizations in King and Pierce counties to learn from and invest in their programs to strengthen and expand Career Connected Learning opportunities for students in King and Pierce counties.
