The Most Interesting Man in the World!
If you live in the United States, yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. And from everyone at King’s Hobby, we wish you a great holiday. I was taught Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate the cooperation between native Americans and the early European settlers, which led to a bountiful harvest and feast. The next 200 years show a dramatic decline in that spirit of cooperation. But I would rather not talk about the ignominious November 25, 1876 Battle of the Red Fork. In the spirit of cooperation and celebration, we would like to celebrate the November 25, 1920 birth of Ricardo Montalban. Best known (to our customer base) as Khan Singh from Star Trek, Mr. Montalban’s acting career spanned almost 70 years. During this time he played the Chief of the Sioux Nation in “How the West was Won” and Khan in Star Trek and Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, He was also a paratrooper in "Battleground", Armondo in "Planet of the Apes", the wise grandfather in Austin’s own “Spy Kids”, and probably the most memorable automobile ad campaign of the 1970s, the Chrysler Cordoba. And “Fantasy Island”. Ricardo Montalban is arguably the original “Most Interesting Man in the World”. To this day, Wrath of Khan remains the feature film for William Shatner's traveling one-man show.
