We Come In Peace!
December 15, 1970, is the date of our first documented, verified, acknowledged, publicized alien invasion. For the first time in recorded history, a ship from the Planet Earth landed on Venus and began to report back on its findings. For centuries mankind has dreamed about going into space. In the 19th Century, the technology began to present itself. In "From the Earth to the Moon", Jules Verne theorized and calculated exactly what we needed to do to get almost to the Moon. By the early 20th Century, space was right at our fingertips. After WWII, the Space Race was on. The accomplishments stacked up like dominos. In 1969 we walked on the Moon. Then in 1970, we invaded Venus. The USSR launched Venera 7 and after traveling for five months, it landed on the surface of Venus. This was no "Angry Red Planet", no Cosmonauts were on board. And unlike our visitors to Marfa, TX, no "random light generator" was delivered. It was determined that the Venera 7's parachute malfunctioned during descent, causing it to land at 37mph and very likely bounce and then fall on its side. Venera 7 transmitted weakly for another 20 minutes before going silent. It is believed the surface temperature of 887° and the atmospheric pressure of 1,300 psi took their toll. But we learned a very valuable lesson, we better try for Mars. So this week at King's Hobby Shop, 7801 N Lamar Blvd, Suite E-188 we celebrate the exploration of space with a selection of science fact and science fiction to stimulate the imagination. Or you can log in to kingshobby.com to see all the rockets, spaceships, and STEM available from our virtual warehouse.
