Tanks to the Rescue!
September 29, 2008, has a few names; The Great Recession, the Mortgage Bubble Bursting, or the Subprime Mortgage Crisis. No matter what you call it, the result was the same. That Monday morning the world changed. What we learned, again, was that if something looks like a bank, sounds like a bank, and acts like a bank, it should be regulated like a bank. Five large "investment banks" grew out of unprecedented growth in the US housing market. They began loaning money and buying investments, just like a bank. But they were considered part of the real estate industry, not financial institutions and they were not subject to the same regulation. So they were not as conservative as a traditional bank, and thus created a "shadow banking system". The high risk and low capitalization just became too much. In the hobby industry, disposable income disappeared. The average King's customer went from having a nice house, with a small mortgage payment, and money to spend each weekend to a much more austere lifestyle. G Scale model railroading dried up, as did die-cast collectibles, our core market remained curbed but steady. It was at this time that King's began offering more affordable pre-owned kits, and King's introduced its eBay store, but most important of all, we weathered the storm. So on this day, 15 years later, with inflation eating up our wallets and 4 Million Americans about to stop getting a paycheck, we weather another tanking economy with a sale on tanks. So at King's Hobby Shop, 7801 N Lamar Blvd, Suite E-188 we have put together a selection of armor kits marked down 20% from retail. Or you can log in to kingshobby.com to see all the tanks and other vehicles available from our virtual warehouse.
