Executive Search Announcement:
Kiran Gaudioso is named Chief Executive Officer of
United Way of Northern New Jersey
We are pleased to announce that Kiran Handa Gaudioso has been selected as the next Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Northern New Jersey . The announcement follows an extensive, five-month search process facilitated by our firm. She assumed the role on March 1, 2020.
Gaudioso will replace John Franklin, who is retiring after more than 20 years at United Way. John is considered the father of the ALICE® movement which he has championed from its beginnings in Morris County, expanding it to New Jersey and later across the country.

"I'm thrilled and honored to assume the role of CEO of United Way of Northern New Jersey. I had an extremely positive experience with Dennis Miller and his team. They provided valuable insights and tremendous support during the process."

Gaudioso has served as United Way's Chief Operating Officer since 2013. She has overseen strategic planning for how the organization fulfills its mission to improve the lives of ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households and those in poverty at the local, state, and national levels.

"Kiran has demonstrated leadership, vision and creativity as she assessed the needs of our region, built critical partnerships and identified strategies to advance lasting, positive change for ALICE®," said United Way Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Michael Gerardi.

Tim Greiner, Search Committee Co-Chair, noted that, "Working with Dennis and his team provided the experience and reach that we needed to ensure we identified the right person for CEO. Our search committee was very impressed with the diversity of candidates we met. We all learned something from each one and throughout the process."

In addition to leading the regional United Way, Gaudioso takes the helm as President of the "United for ALICE®" project, which provides a comprehensive look at financial hardship in America, in collaboration with numerous United Ways across the country, corporations, nonprofits, and foundations in 21 states.

Prior to joining United Way, Guadioso worked in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on data-driven results. She is highly respected among her peers and colleagues and has a wide range of skills including fundraising, strategic planning, board development, and volunteer management.

"Dennis C. Miller led a comprehensive national search for a new dynamic CEO. After meeting their top tier of candidates, we know that Kiran is the right person to lead United Way and build on the strong foundation established by John through powerful local initiatives and the creation of the ALICE® project, which is having unprecedented local, state and national impact," Gerardi said.

Board of Trustees Vice Chair Cynthia Chiarella, who co-led the Search Committee along with Board member Tim Greiner added, "We are excited to welcome Kiran to her new role and are deeply grateful to John for his legacy of dedication and passion for improving life for ALICE® and all in our community for over 20 years."

Please join us in congratulating Kiran. We are confident that she will be a terrific leader for United Way of Northern New Jersey.
