September 2023 Newsletter

The Fall 2023 semester is off to a great start, with more students physically on campus than in the last four years. Enrollment for the semester is 9.4% higher than Fall 2022. We are excited to see so many smiling faces and hear the chatter of increased activity throughout the halls. The Foundation looks forward to another great year, supporting the College’s mission to improve lives by providing equitable, student-centered education.

Foundation Gala 2023

The 2023 Annual Gala will be held on Saturday, November 4 at the Kishwaukee College Student Center.

This fundraising event includes live & silent auctions, a jewelry raffle, a dessert auction, live music, and much more. Join us for an elegant evening of food, fun, and socialization to support a great cause!

Seats are limited. Tickets may be purchased by email at [email protected] or over the phone at 815-825-9739. Visit the 2023 Annual Gala for complete details.

New Quiet Study Space

The Foundation recently provided funding to the College to purchase two Shushbooths. The booths provide a private, isolated space, where students can participate in online courses without being heard or the noise of the external surroundings.

Thank you to the following donors and funds for providing the financial support for this effort:

  • 3MGives Donation
  • Dr. Robert & Jan Bradbury Endowment
  • Thomas & Susan Choice Endowment
  • Klein Family Endowment

New Scholarship Update

The Foundation is pleased to announce the Edmund and Nancy Pool Family Scholarship. This fund provides scholarship support to students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution majoring in Business or Music, or pursuing a degree or certificate in career and technical education, with a preference for Emergency Medical Services programs.

Edmund J. Pool retired as an accountant and helped support his family's entrepreneurial, technical, and educational needs. Edmund's wife Nancy established an endowed fund to honor him and their families commitment to education.

Board Member Update

The Foundation welcomed Dr. Minerva Garcia-Sanchez, Superintendent of DeKalb Community Unit School District 428, to the Board.

Thank you to outgoing Board member, Nicole Williams. Ms. Williams served on the Board since 2018, serving as Board chair from 2020-2022.

Student Thank You

"Beyond the financial aspect, your donation has had an immense impact on my confidence and motivation. Knowing that someone believes in my potential and is willing to invest in my future has given me an incredible sense of validation and encouragement. It has made me want to work harder, dream bigger, and strive for excellence in everything I do. Your donation has not only impacted my education but has also touched my life in the most profound way. I am forever grateful for your belief in me and for making my dreams a reality."
