BRIDGES OF HOPE NEWSLETTER | SPRING 2024

Lauren,

The end of the school year once again brings community gatherings as families mark important educational milestones with promotion services and graduation ceremonies. These moments of transition invite reflection on lessons learned & hopeful anticipation of what lies ahead. It is in this spirit that we celebrate with you, the Bridges of Hope Grief Support Community, another year of connection & growth. We are grateful for your role in how we've supported each other and healed together.

So take a few minutes now to learn more about Katherine - a remarkable young girl who has participated in Stepping Stones for several years and, at just age 10, is already looking to help her peers grieve in healthy ways. And meet Hector and Amanda, two dedicated volunteers who brightly reflect the dedicated & compassionate nature of our extended community of caring people. And even though it's summertime, we are not on vacation, so be sure to check out our schedule of events including a summer camp version of Hope, Hooves & Healing & an exclusive showing of Disney's Inside Out 2.

Thanks for being part of the Bridges of Hope community!

Gratefully,

Jonathan Wright

Leading the Way

"In working with children/teens over the past fifteen years, I've seen the direct impact that grief and loss has had on their emotional well-being. Many feel alone in how they are feeling or feel as though the way they're feeling isn't normal. Sometimes adults in their lives are grieving themselves, worry about saying the wrong thing, or feel uncomfortable talking about death/grief. This can lead to children not having the opportunity to learn and work through their grief. Because of this, it's so important that we have dedicated programs like Bridges of Hope for children to give them this safe space with both peers and adults who understand!"

Making a Difference

Meet Hector, one of our dedicated volunteers whose passion for helping youth & underserved communities shines!

Hector’s bilingual skills have proved invaluable; he assisted in contacting Spanish-speaking referrals, translating permission slips, and creating camp marketing materials to better reach the Latinx community in Charleston. Recognizing the need for Spanish-language materials, Hector even translated the Sand Dollar Curriculum for a group at Morningside Middle, where...

💍✨ Kendra Scott's aim to "shine bright, do good" is more than a tagline. They generously support causes across the country through the Kendra Gives Back (KGB) program. And through KGB events in partnership with the local Kendra Scott store, we have received in-store promotion, jewelry donations, and more than $1,000 to help grieving youth connect, share, heal & grow. So, show them some love & say thanks for supporting Bridges of Hope! 🌟

"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there's something stronger - something better, pushing right back."
