Mid-Year Report - 2017 is off to a great start!
The first half of 2017 has shown that people in Kitsap County and surrounding communities really love animals and care about their welfare! Our mid-year report is out, and the results are amazing! Thousands of lives have already been saved, and we’re excited about continuing this lifesaving momentum through the rest of the year!

Got mice? Adopt a barn cat!
Barn cats provide natural, poison-free rodent control for your barn, garage, shed, or greenhouse! Throughout the summer months, our barn cat room is typically full of dozens of “working cats” ranging from feral, to semi-social, or even social cats who just prefer to be outdoors. While many other shelters euthanize these cats, KHS’ barn cat program has saved hundreds of cats!
Barn/working homes are urgently needed right now for barn kitties- can you help?

Kitty Hall -
coming soon to a City Hall near you!
Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) cats and kittens are taking over City Hall!
This month, we’ll be turning City Halls into Kitty Halls in Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, and Port Orchard.
During each Kitty Hall event, the city will be taken over by all things kitty, including adoptable cats and kittens looking for homes!
KHS will be giving out Kitty Hall-themed giveaways, and have booths with information on: low-cost spay/neuter opportunities for cats; barn cats; how to foster kittens; volunteer opportunities; and cat behavior!
KHS will also be accepting donated items from our wish list to support the cats and kittens in our care, including wet and dry cat food, cat toys, and cat litter.

Adorable Adoptable - Georgie Porgie and Pie
Siblings Georgie Porgie and Pie are looking for a home together!!! Pie and Georgie Porgie are gorgeous 4-5-month-long haired kittens that arrived at the shelter orphaned and very scared of people. After weeks in foster care, they are now little love bugs and ready for a forever home!
We would love to find them a home together since they are such good friends and playmates. Georgie Porgie helps Pie be more brave. Pie can still be shy and nervous in new situations and with new people, so will need a quiet, patient home. Once she is comfortable, and with the help of a little coaxing and affection, Pie blossoms in to a playful, sweet kitty. Pie loves petting and will twirl between your ankles looking for pets. Pie really likes to play with cat wand toys, shoelaces, and fake mice. She really loves snuggling in comfy cat beds, and enjoys the nest areas of cat trees. Georgie Porgie LOVES to play and climb - his favorite spot is on the cat tree by the windowsill so he can watch everything. He also loves to chase wand toys, balled up paper, fake mice toys, you name it - oh and shoelaces! He is good about being picked up and is learning to perch on your shoulder! Georgie Porgie loves snuggling and very easily is transformed into a little purr machine. These two will be nervous and timid at first in their new home, but with patience and love will settle in and bond to their new family.
This adorable pair is in foster care, so if you’re interested in adopting them, please email nsmith@kitsap-humane.org.

Community Spotlight - Peninsula Subaru
On a national level, Subaru has a long-standing relationship with the animal welfare community (specifically the ASPCA) hosting adoption events, donating funds and supplies, and helping transport at-risk animals from overcrowded shelters.
Locally, Peninsula Subaru is continuing this lifesaving partnership by supporting shelter pets here at KHS. In June, Peninsula Subaru hosted a “Certified Pre-Owned Pets” adoption event, helping dogs and kittens find new homes, all while exposing a new audience to the idea of adoption. We will partner with Peninsula Subaru for another adoption event in October.
Along with helping match animals with new families, Peninsula Subaru is supporting our mission by generously agreeing to be the Presenting Sponsor for our 24th Annual Animal Krackers Gala Dinner & Auction! We couldn’t hold events like Animal Krackers without our community partners.
🐾 THANK YOU, Peninsula Subaru, for your generosity and support. 🐾
