KIWANIS STRIVES TO RETAIN MEMORIAL WEEKEND FOOD SERVICE

The Hurlbutt Elementary School PTO and the Weston Intermediate School PTO 2024 Memorial Day Weekend Fair committee has imposed unprecedented demands on food offerings that jeopardize Kiwanis's ability to continue a more than 30-year tradition of operating an exclusive hot food concession at the fair.

The proceeds from Kiwanis's food service at the fair have been a major source of service funding. Recent Kiwanis contributions include funding for the new Hurlbutt playground, the WIS reading and kindness promotion program (book vending machine), athletic field lighting allowing night community and scholastic use, Kiwanis Service and Leadership Awards, and Weston High School scholarships, just to name a few.

The club membership on Saturday urged Kiwanis representatives to the PTOs, Harvey Luft and Tom Watson, to continue discussions with the 2024 PTO fair committee and to explore any possible ways to support the PTOs and salvage this important opportunity to raise funds that we need to support Weston youth programs.

E) $0. Kiwanis dues support insurance, publications, and other administrative costs associated with an organization. The $1,600,000 granted by Kiwanis International's 501(c)(3) Kiwanis Children's Fund in 2022 was donated largely by clubs and individuals, not a cent from your dues.

Weston Kiwanis individuals donated $300 in the club's name to the Kiwanis Children's Fund this past year.
