Lachat Tables Assembly and Finishing
Members reviewed pending and potential new projects at the Community Service Committee meeting last night.
Next Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Community Service Committee is planning to meet at Lachat Town Farm to assemble and finish a half dozen ash tables at the farm.
Steve Thomas, in a picture nearby photographed by Harry Falber recently has been busy preparing for the work party, unpacking the tables and routing "WESTON KIWANIS" on the seat supports.

Breakfast meeting and an election of two directors.
One director will be elected to complete Rick Amill's two-year term as director, expiring September 30. President Amy has informed Kiwaniscope that Tom Glass has been nominated for this position. Additional nominations will be accepted before the election.
A second director will be elected to complete the second year of Harry Spencer's two-year term, when he vacates his director seats and assumes the position of president-elect on October 1. President Amy has informed Kiwaniscope that Dave Burns has been nominated for that position. Additional nominations will be accepted before the election.

Kiwanis New England And Bermuda District Midwinter Conference
In addition to two hands-on service projects, educational topics at the district midwinter conference last Saturday included, in part (see the entire program):

Lunch and plenary sessions at the historic Publick House in Sturbridge were in Paige Hall. Richard Paige saved the Inn by purchasing it with a win in a card game during the great depression, keeping the chain of the Inn’s hospitality alive. | |
In our division, Bob Uzenoff attended from Weston, as did Fairfield's Cindy Perham. Past Lieutenant Governor Cindy invited Bob to join her and other Kiwanians from clubs in Maine to Bermuda at her lunch table. | |
Middletown, Connecticut Community Relations Officer Jay Bodell and his service dog Bear spoke at lunch about the peer support program that he is a part of and the program Bear came through, Puppies Behind Bars. | |

DIVISION CAUCUS ELECTS PATRICK TOKARZ LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
On March 3, President Amy and Bob Uzenoff represented our club at a division caucus to nominate Lieutenant Governor and Lieutenant Governor-elect candidates for 2024/2025. The caucus elected Patrick Tokarz of Milford as Lieutenant Governor-designate, succeeding Karl Uzcategui, who was elected Lieutenant Governor-elect-designate.
Patrick has experience as a lieutenant governor and is currently a director of the division Plat Lieutenant Governor Committee and a director of the Milford club.
DANBURY EARNS DIVISION EARLY BIRD AWARD
District Inter-club Chair Jack Savastano announced that the Kiwanis Club of Greater Danbury won the Division Early Bird Award, which is awarded to the Kiwanis Club with the most inter-club visits within their division between October 1, 2023, and January 31, 2023. The award is a ribbon to add to their club banner. Bob Uzenoff will deliver it to the Danbury club later this month.
