LAST WEEK

KEY CLUBBERS SHARE EXPERIENCE AND ADVICE

Weston High School Key Clubbers, left to right, Gabriel Escandon and co-presidents Mia Tomanelli and Avery Kreitler, joined our meeting last week with their advisor, Past President Dawn Egan.

They shared their individual stories, leading them to a passion for service and, in questions and answers, helped Kiwanians appreciate the power of social media such as Facebook and Weston Warhorse, the Weston High School student newspaper, in reaching their own generation and that of their parents' - potential future Kiwanians - generation.

Communications Committee member Tom Glass reports that after last week's club meeting, our foundation trustees approved his proposal to financially support three print editions of Weston Warhorse at $100 per edition for expanded circulation to reach outside the student population in town and to include expanded content and information about the Kiwanis Club of Weston.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Kiwanis family includes members of all ages and abilities. In addition to Kiwanis clubs for adults who serve kids, we offer Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. Our SLPs are Key Club International for high school students, Circle K International for college and university students, K-Kids for elementary school students, Builders Club for middle school students, and Aktion Club for adults with disabilities.

SLPs are leadership and character-building programs hosted in a school or community agency and often sponsored by a Kiwanis club or another civic organization. Kiwanis International offers resources and support to help anyone open SLP clubs wherever there is a need and opportunity in their communities.
