2026 Stat Days

Thank You to our Indigenous Nurses!

On April 10, we recognized Indigenous Nurses Day - a time to honour the strength, dedication, and compassion of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis nurses. This date marked the birthday of Charlotte Edith Anderson Monture, the first Indigenous registered nurse in Canada.

To our nurses at Klinic, and to nurses everywhere, thank you for the care, kindness, and support you bring to your work each day. We’re grateful for all that you do ❤️

Diversity / Demographic Survey

for Klinic Staff and Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who completed our 2025 Diversity / Demographic Survey! Your input helps us understand the diversity within our workplace and track our progress over time.

The 2026 survey opened in late March and was originally set to close on April 10. We’re now extending the deadline, giving everyone a bit more time to complete the survey. It will remain open until Friday, April 17.

Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/StaffDiversity2026

Questions? Reach out to Laurel or your supervisor. Special thanks to Carlos Campos for all of his hard work on this!

Client Bridge Fund

The Client Bridge Fund committee would like to thank everyone who donates to the Client Bridge Fund. Clients often share that the financial assistance they have received from the Bridge Fund has helped them immensely and how grateful they are that the Bridge Fund exists. In 2025, a total of $5,695.98 was accessed from the Client Bridge Fund helping folks with the costs associated with access to food, medications, medical supplies, fees associated with application forms, housing, and mental health costs. Thank you for your generosity and support.

As a reminder, the Client Bridge Fund is accessible to registered clients of Klinic, you do not need to donate to the fund in order to have one of your clients request to access the fund.

Contributing to the Bridge Fund is easy! Simply fill out the Bridge Fund Donation Form and submit it to Kevin the Payroll Master who will set-up a payroll deduction for you. You can choose any amount to contribute and indicate whether you’d like your donations to go to the client fund, staff fund, or a combination of both.

If you have any questions about the Client Bridge Fund the current committee members are Salisha Ramdeen, Jenny Ewasiuk and Kara Neustaedter.

Reconciliation & Indigenization

“What can I do to work toward reconciliation?”

Learn about Indigenous Approaches to Land Stewardship

David shares with us this week teachings about the land and what it provides. He encourages us to “think about the gifts that the land provides to us, and be thankful for those gifts. It’s an Indigenous way of living on the land that we can all benefit from. All of this is. Don’t overuse resources. Climate change is the direct result of human consumption. Human beings take too much, and greed has consequences. Since the sixteenth century, humanity has driven almost seven hundred vertebrate species to extinction. Indigenous people literally used every part of the animal or fish.” (p.128-129)

David shares examples of this concept in action.

When a muskrat was caught the “family would eat the meat, but the rest of the animal, its pelt, would be traded for money or supplies that were not available on the land. Things like sugar or lard.” (p.129)

“You (might) be more familiar with the bison, and how Indigenous people used every part of the bison meaningfully. The bison was food. It was shelter and clothing. It was used for the hulls of boats. Its bone and sinew were used for tools, and so on.” (p.129)

“Learning about (Indigenous) traditional approaches will help you, and as you incorporate some teachings into being a better steward, it will help others. In short, it comes down to respect for the land, what it provides for us, and what can be taken from us if we act with consideration. It comes down to reverence for the land and the water, for birds and fish and four-legged creatures, and for the connection we have to these things, because that connection is not only an Indigenous thing - it’s just that we’ve done it for so long, and we’ve done it well. It comes down to reciprocity: thinking of how we can give back to the land and the water in meaningful ways, to ensure not only that it’s there and able to provide for future generations, but also that we protect it and foster a healthier relationship with it, both directly and in how we model good actions for others, including our children.” (p.129)
