October 2024 Allocations
The Ed Fund's Allocations Committee meets with students and faculty monthly to review and discuss funding requests.
If you are an Ed Fund/ PTO donor, you are welcome to attend Ed Fund allocations meetings! The next allocation meeting will be held on Wednesday, 11/15, at 3:30 in Room 302.
In September, the Ed Fund allocated $6,770 in September, as well as provided an additional $10,672 from monies raised at the 2024 Spring Fundraiser. In October, the Ed Fund allocated $3,543.99 as well as provided $15,150 from the 2023 Spring Fundraiser
Special Education NTE $500
Hannah Hollingshead requests funds for lab day supplies such as paracord, string, marbles, pie tins, seeds, nursery pot, soil, clips, construction paper, batteries, wire, paint brushes, gloves, aluminum foil, foam board, sheet protectors, exacto knives, wooden sticks, straws and plastic table covers. These lab supplies will allow students access to hands-on learning through experiments and labs in their life science and physical science courses.
SAFE Schools $500
Jan Scott requests funds to cover the remaining balance of $69.34 for meals for the 2-day training held on October 1-2 and light snacks during meetings and activities. Approximately 80-120 student ambassadors enrolled in the SSA program.
Jan Scott plans to request more funds for the end of year ice cream party.
TEAM VAPA $2550
Jette Crow is requesting funds for three Student Art Show Receptions for the Art, Photography and Graphic Design students of FHS. Funds will go toward the purchase of Polaroid Film, refreshments, food, balloons, printing of the invitations. Fall Show is in November, Spring Show is in March and Senior Art Show will be in May. The purpose of the Art Show is to showcase the Graphic Design, Photography and Fine Art works of the FHS students in a venue that encourages students, parents, staff and the community to come together to celebrate the hard work, creativity and skill of our student artists. Approximately 600 students will benefit from this allocation.
World Language $505.01
Jazmin Zelaya requests funds to purchase memberships to online resources for language teachers such apps will give all students the ability to practice that language in class and at home. These apps will give students an opportunity to review and study the material in a fun way as well as track their progress. All students in a world language class will benefit from this purchase.
World Language $379.98
Kendra Fisher requests funds to reimburse the cost for an automatic renewal of several online subscriptions for three online platforms. These resources give students the opportunity to review and study the language in a fun way as well as track their progress. Approximately 130 students will benefit from this purchase.
BEST Program $500
Connie Ramirez requests funds to provide incentives to FHS behavior support students in the BEST Program and reward positive behavior. 21 students with 4 additional students pending will benefit from this allocation.
Mock Trial $1100
Kim Dang and Josh Hermanson request funds to pay for the fees to enroll in the Mock Trial Competition. The Mock Trial team meets twice per week in the beginning of the school year and more frequently as they prepare for trials. Mock Trials help students develop public speaking, oral advocacy, critical reading, writing and thinking skills as well as represent FHS in the Orange County Mock Trial Competition. Approximately 20-45 students will benefit from this purchase.

PBIS $200
Dina Cassidy and Jason Paul request funds to purchase prizes for the CARE Card recognition winners. The regards will be handed out monthly. Students receive CARE Cards for positive behavior in class or on campus. Prizes include but are not limited to Vans shoes, lunch for the winner and a few friends, Birkenstocks clogs, Stanley cup and AirPod Pros.
Athletics $10,672.68
Troy Fresch requests funds to purchase a Tuff Shed brand storage shed to securely store equipment such as jump ropes, free weights, box jumps, ropes, yoga mats, kettlebells, medicine balls, etc in the new outdoor workout space. Approximately 1,100 students will benefit from this purchase.
History Dept $2,170
Michelle Villa requests funds to cover the cost of the Actively Learn online platform that has an extensive archive of articles and supplemental material organized by grade and lexile level. Teachers with access to this tool can assign reading with specific focus and can adjust difficulty based on individual students' needs. Approximately 600 students will benefit from this purchase.
