Celebrate Ohio Public Schools Next Week

November 17-23 is Ohio Public Education Appreciation Week to celebrate the 1.6 million Ohio public school students. This week is an opportunity for us to honor our entire Kings Staff who make a difference in children's lives.

Here in Kings, we are fortunate to have dedicated teachers and staff who inspire excellence every day. Our students, make us proud with all of their achievements both academically and extra-curricularly, and we have an incredible community that stands united in support of education.

We offer many different opportunities for our students such as author visits, field trips, college fairs, extracurricular activities, athletics, arts and theatre, internships, literacy nights, military partnerships, STEM opportunities, and much more.

Additionally, we get so much support from our Parent Teacher Organizations, volunteers, and local community business partners.

Together, we've built one of the nation's finest school districts and together we'll keep making it even better.

Adopt a Kings Family this Holiday Season

Our community has answered! We secured enough donors to provide for 200 children this holiday season.

We are still seeking financial donations to cover wrapping supplies and for any additional students who may need help. Neighborhood Bridges will use the funds to fulfill other needs in our holiday program and/or fill community requests. You can select how your donated money will be used by donating here through Neighborhood Bridges.

If you signed up to adopt a family and haven't received your family's wishlist, it will be arriving soon!

Kings Firecrackers Release Schedule

Our Kings Firecrackers Jump Rope Team hopes that you will "jump" at the chance to check out their very first full performance of the season. It's a "sneak peek" taking place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, in the South Lebanon Elementary School gymnasium. The evening promises to be filled with energy, talent, and that unmistakable Firecrackers sparkle! The event is free.

In other Firecracker news, a former Kings Firecracker and KHS grad (2015) Mackenzie Powell has been named Assistant Coach for the Team. Mackenzie also jumped with the Ohio State Jump Rope Club while in college at OSU. She is shown below with this year's Team Captains, Ceci Spinner, Jordan Carney, Maddie Kleis, Lucy Stovall, and Salem Cain.

KHS Bow Wow Bakery

Bow Wow Bakery is a class-run business at Kings High School that offers students with disabilities the ability to work both independently and together as a team to create healthy dog bones to sell to district staff, family, and friends.

This week alone, the students made 80 bags! The cost of the dog bones is $3 per bag (3 oz/16 dog treats) or 2 for $5 and they are made of flour, sweet potato puree, and cinnamon.

These would make great stocking stuffers for your furry friends! Order today!

KHS Theatre Presents - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shakespeare is coming to the Castle! A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed at Kings High School on November 21, 22, and 23.

Putting on a theatrical production takes a lot of hard work and passion from the cast and crew. While some may think Shakespeare is difficult to understand, you may be surprised how entertaining and thoroughly understood it can be!

Rather than Shakespeare's setting of Athens, Greece, this show is set in Athens, Ohio, home of Ohio University. You'll notice some differences in this production with the setting and characters, but it stays true to Shakespeare's romantic complications and misadventures that ultimately work out in the end. Show Director Pete Moore said, " The set is gorgeous, the music is awesome, and the acting is incredible."

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. All evening shows begin at 7:00 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2:00 p.m. The show is rated PG-13.

Digital Flyers

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.

Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
