Kings Treasurer's Website Update

The Kings Board of Education and Administration strives to be transparent and provide relevant financial information to the community.

A new webpage on the Kings website, the Fiscal Responsibility webpage, is dedicated to providing information for the community regarding revenue generation, cost savings initiatives, and money received from grants.

Please contact Kings Treasurer, Mike Morrow, at mmorrow@kingslocal.net with any questions or suggestions for additional content.

SLE Third Grade Learn About Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

The third graders at South Lebanon Elementary have been studying the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade this week. They learned the history of the parade and how the balloons are made.

Today, they were treated to a special guest, David Hosier, husband of one of our district substitute teachers, Angie Hosier, who has volunteered at the Macy's Parade for over 20 years. Mr. Hosier, a safety team captain at the parade, spent time telling the students all about the parade and what goes into such a large production.

The students created their own balloons and used a green screen with a New York City background to parade with their balloons.

The third-grade students at J.F. Burns held their own Macy's Parade today, too!

KHS Orchestra Takes Orlando

An incredible experience for the Kings High School Orchestra happened November 12-17. The 38 orchestra members traveled to Disney World to experience the magic behind performing and enjoy the parks.

On Thursday, Disney provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase our students' talent in a public performance at Disney Springs. On Friday, KHS Orchestra members also participated in a two-and-a-half-hour clinic led by a professional Disney musician that provided them with valuable insights and growth as musicians and the ins and outs of a recording studio and music industry. After being taught a Disney song, the musicians were recorded and that recording accompanied footage from a Disney animated film.

KHS Orchestra Director, Rana Southern said, "Beyond the music and school building, the students enjoyed the parks, rode attractions, made new friends, built stronger friendships, and made memories that will last a lifetime."

KHS Theatre Presents - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Congratulations to Kings High School Senior, Addy Bays who was honored with Kings Theatre Program's Legacy Robe.

The Legacy Robe is a special honor given to an outstanding cast member who has gone above and beyond to create a legacy of excellence in the KHS Theatre Program.

Addy was cloaked by Pete Moore, Director of the current production of A Midsummer Night's Dream last night at Opening Night.

KHS Theatre Presents - A Midsummer Night's Dream

You have 3 more opportunities to see this show!

Shakespeare is coming to the Castle! A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed at Kings High School on November 22, and 23.

Putting on a theatrical production takes a lot of hard work and passion from the cast and crew. While some may think Shakespeare is difficult to understand, you may be surprised how entertaining and thoroughly understood it can be!

Rather than Shakespeare's setting of Athens, Greece, this show is set in Athens, Ohio, home of Ohio University. You'll notice some differences in this production with the setting and characters, but it stays true to Shakespeare's romantic complications and misadventures that ultimately work out in the end. Show Director Pete Moore said, " The set is gorgeous, the music is awesome, and the acting is incredible."

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. All evening shows begin at 7:00 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2:00 p.m. The show is rated PG-13.

Kings Participates in Rotary Tree Auction

The Rotary Club of Mason Deerfield is hosting a Holiday Tree Auction. It is an inaugural event to raise money for the Club's programs such as service awards for graduating seniors and community grants for local organizations and international Rotary programs.

This year, the Kings Administrative Staff participated by decorating a Kings-themed tree filled with Kings colored ribbons and some special custom ornaments.

The trees will be displayed at the Mason Community Center from Sunday, November 24 - December 6, Monday -Friday 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., and from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be 18 decorated trees from both professional and novice categories. Trees will be available to view online to bid and to vote for your favorite. There will also be a "penny wars" competition for each tree. The "Best" for each category will be announced at the City of Mason Tree Lighting on December 6 at 6:30 p.m.

The tree display is free. We hope you'll get a chance to visit and vote for the Kings tree as best in it's category!

Check out this video of the Kings Admin Staff decorating the tree.

Digital Flyers

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.

Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
